Meet Grimm Workz | Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Grimm Workz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Grimm, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started my business (2Face Lifestyle), I realized that artists needed resources to create the things they wanted to see and or depict. As an artist myself, I quickly realized how difficult it is to produce art out of desperation or even without a space to do so. I would like to eventually be able to have designated spaces for each artist supported by the lifestyle to be able to focus on what is most important to them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My brand GrimmWorkz is a series of art mediums that I have put effort into to show people a glimpse of how my artistic mind works. Grimm is an acronym that stands for Getting Rid (of) Individual Malice and Malevolence. One of my. favorite shows, which was also one that my parents didn’t want me watching yet I still did, is Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. As I was growing up, I was met with adversity when it came to my artistic endeavors because people would tell me that it wouldn’t help me succeed in life. So, for the majority of my life, I allowed myself to put my art on the back burner in pursuit of what I saw as success, which was graduating college. While in college, I had an artistic awakening where I taught myself how to DJ, Photograph, as well as capture and edit video. I was again met with more adversity when it came to my artistic endeavors from my coaches who wanted me to succeed on the track and in school. When trying to find out what I wanted to call myself as a DJ, I was told that your name should depict who you are and what you do in one. I chose the name Grimm because when I am making art, it is for nobody other than myself. Being able to create allows me to expel the emotions that I have within me in an unrestricted way. So even if you don’t want me to do it or if you weren’t approving of how it would come off, Grimm is working for himself.
After I started calling myself Grimm, I immediately delved into the mediums that I was interested and WORKED. So the entirety of the brand GrimmWorkz, is a declaration that the work I put in as Grimm actually “Workz”. Since then I have DJ’d in some of the biggest venues, taken and edited countless pictures and videos, and created a lifestyle brand built on the ideas that I had begun to act upon.
My lifestyle brand that I built as GrimmWorkz is called 2FACE Lifestyle. Our Motto is to Embrace your faces. 2FACE focuses on cultivating the resources that we have as a brand to help each other grow as artists in whatever field you are interested in. So many people have multiple interests and are told to focus on only one because you will spread yourself thin. But we believe that you only need the resources to create what you want to see.
One of the ways we help our artists do this is through our subsidiary brand called Model Talk Collective. We have cultivated an event called Sip and Flick that allows people to network, get content pictures, and have fun doing it. With unlimited wine and professional photographers, anyone who attends will have content to share and memories to look back on.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I could give anyone a shoutout for making me into who I am today I’d say my highschool and College coaches that instilled discipline in me to go out and pursue my dreams. USC Track and Field in particular. I’d also like to highlight my fraternity, Alpha Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. Without these two groups, I believe I wouldn’t have the tools to make the things I want to see happen.
I’d also like to give a shout-out to my current workspace and family, School Yard Rap for giving me the opportunity to grow as an artist and a business individual.
And last but not least, My team, RingLeader, for always supporting my endeavors and going on this journey alongside me.
