We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Haley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Absolutely I have ! There comes a time in everyone’s life , especially entrepreneurs when they will be faced with this decision . Should I keep going or should I give up ? My advice is simple, if there is at least one person that would be negatively affected by you throwing in the towel , then don’t. Being able to differentiate growing pains from a purposeless pursuit is beneficial when trying to decide whether to endure a challenging moment or call it quits. Something practical I do is envision the person or people I serve and recount all the ways that my existence , business and services have assisted them in their lives. Doing this exercise reminds me of my why , brings me back to center and helps me remember that what I do is bigger than me. I have found that when our why is not solid or is steeped in selfish gain, giving up can be fairly easy to do.
What should our readers know about your business?
Relaxed and Restored is a wellness brand that focuses on improving the quality of life in individuals who suffer from chronic pain and stress induced illnesses. If there was one thing I’d want the world to know about my brand is that at Relaxed and Restored we believe healing is possible and that living a quality life with minimal pain and stress is attainable . There are many factors that contribute to pain and illness and of those factors a good portion of them can be eliminated through proper lifestyle adjustments. Empowering my clients to be their own advocates through education is what sets me apart as a therapist. I believe when you know better, you can do better. So whether it be through manual therapy , a coaching session or in purchasing a product from me , my desire is that each client I see leaves knowing more about their bodies than before. Having this knowledge will ultimately aid them in taking better care of themselves from a holistic perspective .
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Itinerary (Friday – Thursday )
Friday : Eating good food is one of my favorite pastimes so upon arrival we’d probably get settled and change then head out for cocktails and dinner at Castaway in Burbank . The view is gorgeous and the cocktails are fun.
Saturday : Fitness is apart of my lifestyle so I’d probably go for a sunrise hike at Griffith Park or a walk on the strand in Manhattan Beach then head to breakfast at The Flavor Table or The Serving Spoon in Inglewood (they’re both local family owned eateries with great food ) . After breakfast we’d head to the hotel to freshen up and relax then venture out to Longbeach for a nightlife experience. The Pike is a good time and has several great eateries and bars that also offer live entertainment.
Sunday : After church service we’d head up the coast and stop at either Nobu or Mastro’s in Malibu for lunch before heading up to Santa Barbara for the week.
Monday – Wednesday : Wine tasting , shopping and massages would be on the menu for these three days. Santa Barbara is one of my favorite getaway spots with a ton of great restaurants and shops and wineries. The perfect recipe for a laid back mini getaway . Some of my favorite restaurants in SB are finch and fork , sbcraftramen and Zaytoon .
Thursday : We’d have breakfast at Coffee Company in Westchester which is right by the airport before her flight out.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize my grandmother Leontine Reamer . Although she is no longer alive, the many lessons she taught me have influenced how I advocate for myself, community and clients in the area of health and wellness. I watched her question anything that didn’t make sense to her . She wasn’t afraid to ask questions or research anything she was curious about. Observing how she trusted herself, then verified her instincts through adequate research, while staying curious has left a mark on my life .
