Hi Sofia, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Throughout my nursing career, which began in the turbulent year of 2020 as a night-shift COVID telemetry nurse, the concept of work-life balance felt elusive. The demands of the pandemic, coupled with irregular sleep patterns, left me burnt out and prompted a reassessment of my priorities. Transitioning from the hospital to aesthetics was a game-changer. Aesthetic medicine not only made work enjoyable but also offered a sustainable work-life balance. Now, I eagerly look forward to 3-4 workdays a week, appreciating my days off for self-care, continuing education, and other fulfilling activities. This shift not only improved my well-being but also emphasized how a robust work-life balance contributes to professional success.

What sets me apart is my persistent passion for continuous education to enhance my skills in delivering the best care for my patients. I take pride in being an honor student in nursing school and studying abroad in Oxford, England, fostering cultural competence that distinguishes my bedside manner, education, and interpersonal skills. My journey to my current professional position reflects resilience in pursuing my passion for aesthetics. While working at the hospital, I invested in courses and training sessions to expand my knowledge in injectables and aesthetics. Progressing through various medical spas, I honed my skills in skin treatments, machinery operation, and patient care.
Though each step was vital, the turning point came when I decided to challenge myself by pursuing autonomous roles in injectables. Leaving my comfort zone was difficult, but it proved pivotal for my career growth. The real breakthrough occurred when I met Dr. Patel, who recognized my dedication. He not only became my medical director but also a mentor, propelling my career to new heights. My story underscores the importance of courage, continuous learning, and the pursuit of passion in achieving professional success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Embracing the daily charm of Beverly Hills is truly a dream. For an unforgettable week with my best friend, the ultimate itinerary would kick off with a morning coffee fix at Philz Coffee. A casual stroll and shopping spree along Rodeo Drive would follow, immersing ourselves in the city. Lunch would be at Croft Alley, where the matcha lattes and tuna patty melts are absolute must-tries. To achieve ultimate relaxation we’d venture a bit further to Den Mother Wellness in Venice Beach, a sanctuary for ultimate rejuvenation. The day would conclude back in Beverly Hills with a visit to the renowned Funke, indulging in Italian cuisine. The convenience of a short walk from my office to the dinner destination adds an effortless charm to our Beverly Hills escapade, creating an unforgettable experience.

I am delighted to acknowledge the pivotal role that Dr. Patel, a distinguished facial plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, has played in my journey. My success is greatly owed to the generous mentorship of Dr. Patel. He took me under his wing, offering essential business insights, comprehensive training, and the opportunity to assist during surgeries. Through this mentorship, I am continuously learning about facial anatomy, patient care, and various aspects of the field. Dr. Patel’s guidance has been instrumental, and I am grateful for the credit and recognition he rightfully deserves in shaping my professional story.
