We had the good fortune of connecting with Jillian Bryce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jillian, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The most important decision I’ve made that contributed to my success is following my heart. Passion is what drives us, motivates us, and gives us the determination to keep going, even when faced with obstacles. I was able to connect with others who shared the same interests and create a community of like-minded individuals. This not only helped me grow my audience, but also opened up doors for collaboration, networking, and opportunities that I never would have found otherwise. Following my passion has not only brought me success in my career, but has also brought me immense joy and fulfillment in my life. It’s truly the key to unlocking your true potential and living a life of purpose and meaning.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The journey itself has been extremely rewarding, but not without its hurdles – Being self-employed is a hustle. As with any freelance job, there are times when work is abundant and times when it is scarce, making it difficult to rely on a consistent income. This uncertainty can be stressful, especially in an expensive city like Los Angeles where the cost of living is high. Additionally, as a self-employed yoga instructor, I’m (or anyone else in this profession) responsible for my own marketing, scheduling, and client outreach. This means spending a significant amount of time and energy promoting classes, managing social media accounts, and networking within the yoga community. This constant hustle can be exhausting and take away from the time I’d rather spend focusing on my actual practice and teaching. Furthermore, the physical demands of being a yoga instructor can take a toll on the body. Teaching multiple classes a day, demonstrating poses for students, and constantly adjusting bodies in class can lead to overuse injuries and burnout. It’s crucial to prioritize self-care and listen to your body in order to prevent injuries and maintain longevity in this career. Being a self-employed yoga instructor in Los Angeles offers numerous benefits and opportunities to thrive in the industry; flexibility, unlimited earning potential, creativity, building a community, and personal growth. Overall, being a self-employed yoga instructor in Los Angeles offers a unique and fulfilling opportunity to create meaningful difference in the lives of others through the practice of yoga.

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to my oldest brother Brett. Thank you for introducing me to the world of yoga and for being such an incredible brother to me. You have not only been my best friend but also a father figure and a true hero in my life. I’m forever grateful for your constant support, mentorship, and unwavering love. Your encouragement has been the driving force behind my triumphs, and your presence during my tears has provided me with strength and comfort. I have always looked up to you and admired the way you handle responsibilities, conflicts, disappointment with grace and ease. You’ve shown me what it means to be a good human being, and I am grateful for the lessons you’ve taught me. Without you, I cannot imagine where I would be today. It’s because of your guidance and belief in me that I get to teach yoga on a weekly basis. You have shaped my life in ways I could never repay. Thank you, Brett, for being the amazing brother that you are. I’m the luckiest little sister to have you as my brother, I love you!
