Meet Adrienne Qasabian | Interior Architect & Furniture Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrienne Qasabian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adrienne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started Studio Qasabian to allow myself the freedom to take on projects that are meaningful to me, and to allow myself to approach each one with my specific creative point of view. It also allows me to structure my work flow in a way that facilitates my own creative flow. As a business owner, I love that I’m able to give my employees the option to do the same as well. I trust them to work without the rigidity of a 9-5 workday in an office environment. I’m confident in their ability to get the work done on time. I know for me it always motivated me to know I had an employers trust, so I hope it is for them as well.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We’re a full service interior architecture, design and custom furniture business. We approach every project as a fresh slate and put a huge emphasis on sustainable design practices. We’ve also started taking on projects in the commercial sphere which allow us to explore larger philosophical questions around heath, wellness, and social justice – we’d like to do a lot more of them in the future. We’re less interested in creating “pretty” interiors and put the focus on creating smart, well-thought out space plans, sustainable finishes and recycled furnishings.
We also have a line of furniture being released on 1st Dibs in the very near future, which was inspired by a very special interiors project we completed last year.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d probably take them to see an art show or gallery in the Arts District downtown, followed by a delicious dinner at one of the many incredible restaurants in the area. Very LA to do a scenic hike – my favorite is the Griffith Observatory. Ironically my friends like tagging along for some of the less glamorous aspects of my job. Tagging along to a factory visit to see furniture prototypes or to source vintage furnishings really excites people for some reason!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband Michael is such a support system for me. Obviously on a personal level, but also professionally. He’s a business owner himself and has been so a lot longer than I have. He has really helped me navigate the hills and valleys of owning an operating my own studio, and has pushed me to keep going during the toughest moments.
