We had the good fortune of connecting with Kadeem McPherson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kadeem, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Giving up is an easy pathway to life. You can stop when you want to give up because when you have no fight left there’s nowhere to go except to attack everything in sight. When you have passion and ambition to create something new and fresh you can always keep going and find new ways to be a better version of yourself.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lately, I’ve been studying Malcolm X, Muhammed Ali, & 2pac and their message to help the kids and teach the world that no matter what race you are we need to stand together and fight for our right to be happy and treated equally for the kids. Thug Life is still very prevalent and the sooner we start to realize that the sooner we’ll start seeing people for who they are and not what we want to see. There’s a lot of music out that doesn’t teach people about God and there’s a lot of music that carries a false image of God. She is love and he is safety.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Leimert Park. I’m not in the area as much as I need to be but I’m always telling people that if you want good food, and good people to be around that’s the way to be.

Mike’s Deli is a good restaurant to shop at, but that’s about it for the most part.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The one person who has always had my back is Kayla McPherson. A dancer, student, and the hardest working woman I know on this earth she has always been there for me and more importantly she deserves to be in the highest and most prominent positions this world has to offer.
