We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriele Pezzini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriele, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I didn’t start my work thinking about business, but about discovering the world through the relationship we have with the things of the world, and in particular objects and the way of conceiving them intellectually, like the first men who conceived the first tools.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My theoretical and essential approach to the object, to the product, has allowed me to develop a design process that I can apply to any area. I don’t know if it distinguishes me from others but I am very proud of the projects I have created, and these certainly distinguish. What I managed to do is certainly the result of a lot of work and constant self-criticism, there was no lack of luck, and I think it revealed itself in the challenges that presented themselves at the right time, that is, when I was ready to face them. Challenges such as the helicopter and the Bugatti for Hermès. These incredible projects will stand the test of time, but no less than other minimal research projects. In any case, I don’t need the world to know about me, and I think the real challenge is yet to be accomplished and it will be on another level, that is, how to truly be of help to humanity.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me, nature is one of the most beautiful places where I would take my friends, there is one in particular in Switzerland, a chalet in the mountains at 1700 meters above sea level, where you cannot reach by car, magnificent in summer, enchanting in winter: Hof Zuort, about two hours from Saint Moritz.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think that I owe the credit for what I have managed to achieve to the university where I completed my design studies. ISIA of Florence (Italy), Higher Institute for Artistic Industries. For the simple reason that it taught me to observe, to analyze, to think, before doing. All this was then completed with my philosophy studies at the Sorbonne in Paris (France).
