We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steve, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am a Southern California native, raised by immigrant parents from Vietnamese descent in Orange County. Having parents who left everything behind in a war-torn country to come to a new country with nothing but the clothes on their back, it directly impacted me with a strong sense of family. My upbringing was steeped in the resilience and determination of those who dared to start anew, leaving behind the scars of conflict for the promise of a better life.

Witnessing my parents rebuild their lives from scratch in a foreign land instilled me a profound appreciation for the sanctity of family bonds. Their relentless pursuit of the elusive American Dream, juggling multiple jobs while mastering a new language, sowed the seeds of entrepreneurship deep within me.

For me, family isn’t just a word; it’s the cornerstone upon which I’ve built my identity. Fueled by an innate sense of duty to both my kin and the communities we inhabit, I’ve always been drawn to the minutiae of life, recognizing the significance of every detail.

My father, Viet Quoc Nguyen, ignited my passion for creativity, urging me to embrace the artist within, while my mother, Michelle Le, instilled in me the tenacity of an entrepreneur. From a young age, it was evident that my destiny lay in the realm of storytelling, a journey that led me to establish my own public relations and communications marketing firm.

Driven by a desire to wield the power of narratives, I embarked on a quest to make my mark on the world. For me, storytelling isn’t just a vocation; it’s a calling—a means to shape the very fabric of our culture.

In the grand tapestry of life, stories serve as the threads that bind us together, weaving a narrative that transcends borders and bridges divides. As I continue to navigate the ever-changing landscape of communications and movies, I count myself fortunate to be living out my dreams, one story at a time. After all, in a world hungry for connection, it’s the stories we tell that truly leave an indelible mark on the collective consciousness. Stories shape culture.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

In the early stages of my career, navigating the landscape of Hollywood presented its fair share of challenges, particularly with the scarcity of representation that mirrored my own identity. However, these hurdles served as catalysts for innovation, propelling me to forge my own path and cultivate opportunities not only for Steve Nguyen & Associates℠ but also for our esteemed clients. We are firm believers in the profound influence of media on culture, and our ethos revolves around leveraging this power to shape narratives and foster meaningful connections.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting LA, I’d start by whisking them away to the picturesque shores of Malibu for a day of soaking up the California sun, followed by an indulgent sushi feast at my go-to spot, NOBU Malibu. The next day, we’d savor a leisurely lunch at The Polo Lounge in The Beverly Hills Hotel, followed by a pampering session with massages at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. For dinner, we’d relish in the flavors of authentic Italian cuisine at Giorgio Baldi. Given my PR background, I’d arrange for us to attend a Hollywood movie premiere or plan a weekend getaway to Palm Springs for the Coachella 2024 festivities, including catching performances by Kim Lee at the REVOLVE Festival and attending events hosted by GUESS.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In reflecting on my journey, I’m deeply appreciative of the unwavering support and encouragement I’ve received along the way. My late father, Viet Quoc Nguyen, instilled in me a sense of self-belief, teaching me that with determination, any dream is attainable. Equally instrumental has been the steadfast love and support of my remarkable mother, Michelle Le, whose unwavering presence has guided me through every twist and turn.

I am grateful to those who believed in me from the outset, including my very first client at iHeartRadio (formerly Clear Channel Los Angeles). It was their trust in my abilities that propelled me forward, opening doors to remarkable opportunities like working alongside media moguls such as Kris Jenner and the Kardashian sisters, Kim, Khloé, Kourtney to kick off the Aces & Angels Celebrity Poker Tournament at The Playboy Mansion to start, which led to a number of partnerships, endorsements, campaigns, and launches. Special recognition is also due to my collaborative partners, such as Kelly Springer at Kelly K PR, whose shared vision and dedication have enriched my professional journey immeasurably. Through the privilege of working with esteemed clients and collaborators like Evan Fong, Executive Director of Publicity at Universal Pictures for the release of The Scorpion King 2: Rise of A Warrior, Andrea Kelly, the Producer of Once Upon A Time in Queens (Lionsgate and Grindstone Entertainment) for a film publicity campaign, the Olmeca Altos Tequila (a Pernod Ricard brand), the MAC Cosmetics x BollyDoll consumer awareness campaign, and Taylor Draper for the launch of the Steve McQueen by Inherent Driver Collection. I also want to shoutout clients of the high-profile events like the Black Eyed Peas Live in Manila concert and Kathleen Hostert from OneLegacy for the Donate Life Summer Concert Series, featuring live performances by Ashley Tisdale, Gavin Rossdale, and All-4-One. I’ve been able to realize my passion for storytelling and communication on a grand scale.
