Meet Jaime Quintana | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime Quintana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaime, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Your career shouldn’t be a hassle , it shouldn’t an eye roll not even a sigh . Your career should be your passion because your are ment to succeed and your ment to grow in whatever you are passionate about . My passion comes from television and film . Different things have inspired me through my journey but the most important thing about this journey was staying true to your authentic self and have fun discovering who you are along the way.

Having a creative career has taught me so many things about myself as a person . I’ve been put in many different situations where as a Makeup Artist your job is not just makeup but it’s being a problem solver for so many different situations and that always keeps me on my toes and it keeps things interesting . Most of my passion comes from storytelling through makeup . Adding all the little details to makeups that make it even much more interesting . Sure I can get hired at a counter and collect a paycheck every 2 weeks . But your passion and love for your career will take you further as long as you allow your self to listen to yourself and you start acknowledging that your ment for something greater . I wanted to pursue something more once I found myself tapping out of the current situation that I was in. I knew I wanted more , but it’s that’s first initial step that’s the scariest.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Everything started out as just a thought . This thought turned into an idea and later in life , the idea turned into reality . The power of “manifestation ” is very real and very powerful. You gotta know what your passionate about , study it , master it and in our own journey , we gotta know how to accept all types of failures so that we learn from them and strive from each and every situation that we come across. In most occasions because most artist are emotionally driven , this task can take a while to learn and to accept . I myself am still taking the proper steps that I need to fully accept in order to invite “bigger and better “ success into my own life . It hasn’t been an easy journey of course , like most people , when you tap into “self love “ and knowing what you need to “build” you find yourself having yo do some self healing as well . As humans , we can’t keep shrugging things under the rug . We gotta know how to heal , accept and deal with things from the root so that everything else can flow organically and beautifully just like the universe has it planned for you already . As your journey continues , as you learn in your own journey and you start to let go of all your failures , the universe will sense that your ready to continue to work , to succeed and to keep learning . You don’t need multiple degrees , classes or invest thousands of dollars into a school . You need discipline, patience and most of all the hunger to want to elevate yourself to the next level . I never went to makeup school . I learned everything through jobs , friends and through myself and through that fire that I have inside , that’s what landed me in different opportunities that life has presented me with .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You can never go wrong with having good food with good company . We would possibly start the day with walking around the beach . Then we would get some good food and later possibly get some tickets to a museum ?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many amazing individuals that have helped me in my journey to where I am today . But this specific shout , I would like to thank Maryann Yee for always being such a great supporter , a friend and a family member. Thank you so much for always believing in me and for always allowing me to learn from my mistakes . You have been an absolute inspiration and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

I also wanna dedicate this article to all of those that may have felt like giving up in some way , shape or form . Taking everyday one step at a time is all we need in order to get through this thing called life . Do NOT give up and make everyday count .
