Meet Carlos Carmen | Songwriter and Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos Carmen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlos, why did you pursue a creative career?
Because I have always been creative. I’ve always loved playing music, writing songs, singing and sometimes drawing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At this point, I’ve had the honor and privilege of being accepted by over 100 FM radio stations in many countries who decided to play my music despite being an unsigned, unknown artist. This wasn’t easy and took knocking on many doors before any one opened for me. This has taught me that persistence and self-belief is the only way to go. My favorite saying is “Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm”.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I would most definitely take them to experience some of the awesome natural beauty that California has to offer, its beautiful Pacific coastlines, rivers, canyons and forests, especially Sequoia National Park. I would take them to quaint little towns nestled in rolling hills like Solvang or to see hot air balloons in Temecula Valley. We would look for the best seafood in the friendliest little nooks possible.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s difficult to give recognition to only one person. There have been several people in my life that encouraged me and gave me unconditional support in this journey. Among them: Rosa Sepulveda, my third grade teacher; my mother Aida Rosa Gomez, and my mother Madeleine Mege, both gave me moral and spiritual support; uncle Roberto Jimenez for his brotherly love growing up; and cousin Carlos Nano Gallardo, for being a music mentor to me.
