We had the good fortune of connecting with D-Win and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi D-Win, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My inspiration for starting my business was my niece “Corrie”. With my design background, I felt inspired to get back into the field when she was born. It wasn’t about her desire to become a designer, but rather about creating opportunities for her to become a leader.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a rapper, designer, and photographer, I bring a unique perspective to my work. Hailing from Indianapolis and studying in Chicago, I have experienced and discovered so many amazing things in my journey. It has taken pure faith and unwavering focus to reach where I am today, and I have taken many risks along the way. I am particularly proud of my new summer and fall collection for Winfield, which was greatly influenced by my girlfriend Cailyn’s input. Through my journey, I have learned important lessons such as trusting the process, listening to the Holy Spirit, and being mindful of the company I keep. My new single “Protect Me” is set to release July 5th, so keep an eye out for it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to: Zozo Lebrea, Silverlake Ramen, Beacon House Thrift Shop – Long Beach, and I would take them to church with me on Sunday at City of Refuge Los Angeles.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my amazing aunt, Belinda Bailey. She’s been an instrumental figure in my life, holding down the fort for our entire family. Despite me flat out just being bad , she always let my brother “Dierra” and me have our fun. This interview is for her, and I want to publicly thank her for being such a fantastic aunt!
