Meet Susie Major | Lead Singer / Front Person / Founder of RagDolls

We had the good fortune of connecting with Susie Major and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Susie, what do you want people to remember about you?
I’d like to be remembered, hopefully, as a highly rated and respected Rock Lead Singer/front person of my time. Now, I’m a very humble person, and even writing that is awkward for me. Since I started fronting bands back when I was 17, I only answered bands looking for a male lead singer/front person. I knew that I could perform equally as strong and it was my goal to be heard. I didn’t always accept the roll after I’d auditioned because maybe the band I auditioned for didn’t pass what I was looking for, but I was proud to have changed their minds about having a female lead singer.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally my career began by performing and writing for the cult horror movie, Roctober Blood, on which I sang the main song, “Rainbow Eyes” as well as writing 5 song on the soundtrack. I also performed on numerous songs for the recent SyFY Channel’s cult phenomenon, Sharknado (movies 1 through 5. I have been writing and fronting various local L.A. bands starting at the age of 16 and performing all over California, sharing the stage opening for such artists as Queensryche, UFO, The Tubes, Eddie Money, Great White, MSO, John Waite, amongst many others.
Most recently in 2019, I created an all female Aerosmith tribute, RagDolls. I wanted a band that performed note for note Aerosmith’s catalog and amazing audiences with high energy vocal performances that people say: “WTH did I just witness?! If I close my eyes I swear it’s like being at an Aerosmith concert!” and “How do you sing like that??!?!?!” I’m very proud of RagDolls. Very proud. Yes, we are late to the tribute scene in that there are tributes 25 years old. I never considered doing a tribute until recently however. I was too focused on my original music. Now, I’m really enjoying playing with these bad ass musicians! It’s onward and upward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, definitely going up to Summerland beaches, because I can bring my beautiful yorkie, Zuzu. I love the vibe up there. Then, Big Sur, Cambria, Monterey, Menlo Park, and then back down to San Diego. Has to be our beach life that has my heart.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have had to make my own way and cut my own path with Music. I didn’t have supportive parents so it didn’t come from my home life. I’ve never given up, even when it felt like I may want to go get a day job. My Shoutout is to my tenacity, believing in myself and my passion for Music.
