We had the good fortune of connecting with Otis Harris, Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Otis, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
To know whether to keep going or give up is somewhat simple. You keep going when you still have the magic in your soul. You keep going when your career continues to feed your soul!!! You keep going when you realize what joy your career brings to you. You keep going when you realize that your career feels more like a “Good time” instead of feeling like “Work”. Now you give up when all of your reasons for keeping going turns to the opposite. You don’t enjoy what you do! You notice that the fun you’ve had while moving through your career has now turned to just a job. Let’s also not forget that little voice that speaks to us when we are having a hard time with making a hard decision. Keep going or to give up plays a part in whatever relationship or business we step into.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born with a gift as most of us are. What’s different from me and most is that I want to bless others with my gift by making them feel seen, loved, entertained, and fed! I am an entertainer! I started out wanting to be a singer as a child. I wanted to be the male version of the late great Whitney Houston! After I graduated High School, I went to an Actor’s Conservatory where I started modeling and acting. That led me to moving to Los Angeles. I was soooo nervous and proud of myself at the same time. Proud of myself because now there is no excuse in fulfilling my career as an entertainer and felt like i can do this! While going through my journey, I ran into a brick wall. That brick wall was the Writer’s and Actor’s strike! I call it a brick wall because now I’m blocked from booking jobs. I got depressed and felt like i was useless! I noticed that the brick wall that I thought was blocking me had a crack with a hole in it. I pushed that brick wall down and on the other side was Disney entertainment waiting for me. I now work full time as an entertainer for Disneyland Resorts. While working at Disney, the strike ended and I am able to continue to go to auditions and get booked for tv shows etc. So proud of myself for not giving up. I overcame the challenge I was faced with by going back to what fed my soul and that was manifesting and saying my affirmations. Having hope and keeping a positive mindset. The lessons I’ve learned along the way so far is to be patient & stay focused. I want the world to know that with me you will always see a humble man. Make your money by doing what you love! Make your money by using your gift! I guarantee you the world will open up to you! Of course there will be fear, however we have to take risks! That’s what life is partially about. You will not get anywhere unless you take a chance. Take risks!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well in the month of June, I celebrated my birthday with one of my childhood best friends who also shares the same birthday with me. She flew in to LA from my hometown Dallas, Tx and our itinerary was to just enjoy life. We of course spent a day at Disneyland, went to the winery in Temecula, went to Beverly Hills (Rodeo Dr), partied in West Hollywood, traveled to San Diego and partied there. We just wanted to have a good time. My favorite spots to have fun will be West Hollywood. Places like Trunks, Fiesta Cantina, etc. Driving along the coast to Malibu. I’ve also been having a good time in cities like Fullerton & Brea (Chophouse).

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well thank you for asking this question.

I want to give a shoutout to my family of course. My mother, my father, my siblings, My aunts, My close cousins (Ya’ll know who you are), & and my close friends who are my family as well. The friends I’ve had for 20+ years. My family has be so supportive throughout my life! I am blessed! They all have and still show me love while traveling with me in my journey. I also want to dedicate this shoutout to myself!!! I also continued to keep going when those that spoke against me and did not let the negativity take control. With power of manifesting & affirmations, I speak greatness into my life! I speak positivity into my life! I speak peace into my life! These are the reasons why i want to also dedicate this shoutout to me.
