We had the good fortune of connecting with Joel Baker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joel, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of Baker Made is our unwavering commitment to showcasing the unique talents of artists through high-quality apparel. From the outset, our mission has been to bridge the gap between art and fashion, providing a platform for artists to express themselves authentically. This dedication resonates with our audience, who value creativity, originality, and craftsmanship in their clothing choices.

Additionally, our collaborations with talented artists like Elle Kitsos and Christine Favata (STiNE, AF!) have allowed us to offer distinctive and limited-edition collections that stand out in the competitive fashion market. Overall, our success is rooted in our passion for art, dedication to quality, creativity, and community. It is evident in every stitch and design we produce.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ultimately, we want the world to know that Baker Made is more than just clothing; it’s a celebration of creativity and individuality. Each hat, hoodie, and t-shirt tells a story, blending artistic inspiration with comfort and quality.
We’ve navigated the complexities of starting a business from sourcing materials to building a brand identity that resonates with our audience. One of the most important lessons has been the power of collaboration. Working closely with talented artists has not only enriched our collections but has also strengthened our community.

One of our recent highlights has been the launch of our new Rainbow Sherbet tie-dye hoodie line. This line represents a culmination of months of brainstorming and meticulous execution. We took the overstock of our white hoodies featuring Elle Kitsos’ design “Lust” and transformed them to create a vibrant, rainbow sherbet-like design. This approach not only showcases our collaborative creativity, but also underscores our commitment to sustainability by repurposing existing materials and reducing waste.

The Rainbow Sherbet hoodie line is more than just clothing; it’s a nostalgic journey back to carefree summers spent at summer camps, enjoying rainbow sherbet ice cream by the pool, and creating lasting memories at playgrounds and beaches. It’s about evoking those joyful moments through wearable art that speaks to our customers’ personal experiences and style preferences.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In our journey, we owe our gratitude to Joel’s mentor, Erin Stern, whose guidance and insight have been invaluable in shaping Baker Made. Erin Stern works for a nonprofit called SCORE which is a free mentoring service offered to start-ups looking for direction. Erin has shared her decades of experience in the apparel industry with us, not only to propose ideas for branding but also to encourage us during slow times.

Additionally, we want to recognize and credit the talented artists who have collaborated with us, such as Elle Kitsos and Chrstine Favata (STiNE, AF!). Their creative contributions enrich our collections and inspire our mission to celebrate artistic expression through fashion.
