We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, risk-taking has been transformative and I, strongly, believe it is necessary . Leaving San Diego for Los Angeles meant leaving a secure corporate job to pursue a more fulfilling life centered around my passion, dance. It was a leap into the unknown, but it opened doors to diverse industries, valuable connections, and countless unforgettable experiences. Each risk has taught me resilience and I credit these risks for every milestone I’ve achieved.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Amoverlo specializes in delivering choreography that blends a fusion of movement styles and technical formations with emotive storytelling, aiming to evoke deep connections and leave a lasting impact on the audience. What sets Amoverlo apart is the commitment to curating each piece to authentically reflect the client’s vision. We prioritize client input and customization, ensuring that every choreographic creation aligns perfectly with their preferences and aspirations.
I am thrilled to collaborate with multiple clients and aspire to become one of Los Angeles’ most sought-after event choreographers. I take pride in successfully choreographing two special events (Quinceañeras), documenting each step of the process on the Amoverlo Instagram page (@Amoverlo).
Achieving this milestone required unwavering support from my loved ones, to whom I am deeply grateful. Pursuing a business venture after initial setbacks was daunting, but overcoming these challenges taught me invaluable lessons in perseverance and adaptability. I embraced failures as opportunities for growth, refining my skills and approach to better serve my clients.
Through Amoverlo, I aim not only to create exceptional choreography for special events but also to inspire others to boldly pursue their artistic dreams. I want the world to recognize that behind each piece lies a dedication to craftsmanship, innovation, and a profound love for movement.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d want to start with a hearty breakfast at Poppy & Rose in the Flower District for their delicious chicken and waffles. I would take them to explore Griffith Observatory and hike up to Griffith Park for panoramic views of the city. After burning calories on a beautiful hike, we’d restore our energy with some Cremma di Parmigianno pasta from the authentic pasta bar UOVO in Wilshire- to die for! Depending on what night of the week it is, I would find us a social dancing event to get some salsa and bachata steps in. Being a dancer and all, of course I would sign us up for a variety of dance/ exercise classes at the Playground LA.
Some of the most fun things to do when being out and about in LA is definitely checking out a comedy show at the Comedy Store or the Laugh Factory. Be aware that there is a 2 drink minimum after purchasing the ticket, so be parched!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to first shout out Valentina Alonzo for recognizing my vision and submitting my name for this opportunity. Her belief in my abilities reaffirms that hard work does not go unnoticed, and I am incredibly grateful for her support.
Additionally, I owe much of my journey to the mentorship of leaders in the dance community. I want to thank Priscilla Barney, Director of Iroko SD Franchise, Tirso and Lyza from Indigo Dance Co., Christopher Evans, and Anthony Blanco, Director of Animo Dance Co., for their guidance and encouragement. Their mentorship has been invaluable in shaping my path.
