Meet Severina Hernandez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Severina Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Severina, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As the founder of Bubbles & Blooms and Studio 127, I am deeply committed to making a positive impact on our community and the world. My mission extends beyond offering flower arrangement workshops; I aim to empower women by providing them with a space for creative expression and self-care. I believe in the transformative power of floral artistry to help women reconnect with their inner creativity, reduce stress, and enhance overall mental well-being. Inclusivity and representation are at the core of my values, and I strive to ensure that every participant feels seen, heard, and valued in our workshops. By fostering a sense of community in a bustling city like Los Angeles, I create opportunities for women to build meaningful connections and lasting friendships. Additionally, I support the local economy by sourcing flowers from local growers and prioritize sustainability by using eco-friendly materials and practices. Ultimately, my goal is to empower women, foster creativity, and promote well-being, making a meaningful difference in the lives of my participants and the broader community.
What should our readers know about your business?
My business, Bubbles & Blooms, is held at my creative studio called Studio 127. Bubbles & Blooms started because I was searching for a flower arrangement workshop to attend, but I found that most existing workshops were very stiff and lacked a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. When I attended one, no one was talking to each other, and it wasn’t very fun. I wanted to create a space where women could not only get creative and put together beautiful arrangements but also walk away feeling like they had taken some meaningful time out for themselves, something many of us don’t often prioritize. I envisioned a place where like-minded women could come together, connect, and truly pour back into themselves.
Creating Bubbles & Blooms was far from easy. There have been numerous learning experiences along the way, but with my support system and a lot of patience, I have been able to navigate these challenges. One of the key lessons I’ve learned is that your product or service isn’t for everyone. Not everyone will like it or see its value. However, it’s crucial to stay firm in your beliefs and trust that the audience you are trying to attract will find and support you. It may not always be pretty, and you might not always sell as many tickets as you want, but you must remain steadfast and not dilute your services. Knowing your worth is essential.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand story is that we are more than just flowers and a studio space. At the core of myself and the brand is a genuine desire to support other people, especially women. I want everyone to feel supported, be the best versions of themselves, and succeed. If there is ever any way that I or my brand can contribute to someone’s growth or success, I will do what needs to be done to ensure that happens. Bubbles & Blooms and Studio 127 are built on the principles of creativity, community, and empowerment, and I am committed to fostering these values in everything we do.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, now that’s a great question! I’m a hardcore foodie—ya girl loves to eat—so the main thing we’d be doing is hitting up some of the best restaurants in the city and exploring the areas around them. Here’s what our week-long itinerary would look like:
Day 1:
We’d kick things off with a morning hike in Franklin Canyon to ensure it’s not too hot. After working up an appetite, we’d grab delicious acai bowls from Backyard Bowl. Then, we’d do some shopping at the Beverly Center and The Grove. After relaxing a bit, we’d finish the day with dinner at one of the delicious taco trucks found basically on any corner of LA.
Day 2:
We’d start the day with my friend Naomi’s yoga class at the Pendry, followed by a fresh juice and beef patties from Simply Wholesome. Then, we’d spend the afternoon at the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the waves. We’d end the day with dinner at Ysabel, known for its beautiful ambiance and fantastic food.
Day 3:
We’d dedicate this day to relaxation, starting with a visit to Wi Spa to enjoy some massages and relax in their various sauna rooms. For lunch, we’d head to Park’s BBQ for some of the best Korean barbecue in town. Afterward, we’d roam around Santee Alley, indulging in some unique shopping. Dinner would be at Katsu-ya, enjoying their incredible sushi.
Day 4:
We’d catch a Dodgers game, where we’d enjoy delicious Dodger Dogs and scrumptious micheladas. There’s nothing like the energy of a live baseball game!
Day 5:
To wrap things up, we’d visit a museum. We’d spend the day at LACMA, exploring the amazing art exhibits. Afterward, we’d head over to Vibrato for dinner, drinks, and some incredible jazz music to end the trip on a high note.
This itinerary showcases some of the most fun, interesting, and exciting places in the area, blending a mix of outdoor activities, relaxation, and of course, fantastic food!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh man, so many people deserve credit for my success, but it really boils down to my incredible support system. Over the last few years, I’ve cultivated an amazing group of people who have been there for me through thick and thin. Number one is my mother. She raised me and instilled in me the values of hard work and resilience. She taught me to do what needs to be done and really allowed me to explore my creativity. Without her encouragement, I wouldn’t be so confident in my creative endeavors today.
Next would be my business partners, Naomi Hutchinson and Nikki Frechete. Without them, I wouldn’t be as confident or as motivated to push through and get the job done. They inspire me every day and are truly the driving force behind my perseverance. There have been several times along my journey when I wanted to quit, but they kept me going and supported me in every way possible. I’m really blessed to have them in my corner.
Lastly, I owe a lot to the community I serve. The women who show up to my events are a constant source of inspiration. Seeing how much they appreciate the experiences I create and the small details I put into each event makes all the hard work worth it. Their enthusiasm and support fuel my passion and drive to continue doing what I love.
