We had the good fortune of connecting with Silvia Carluccio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Silvia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As soon as the pandemic hit, I realized that while the food industry was going to be impacted the most, people needed to eat, connect with one another, and chefs still had a need to share their art and cook for people while making money. My main goal was to use technology as a way to continue bringing people together and allow people to express themselves and forget about Covid for a couple hours. IMPASTIAMO was born as a way to connect people and help professionals continue earning money.

What should our readers know about your business?
IMPASTIAMO is a project of my event production and creative agency, Lovell Productions. As Covid-19 hit and the pandemic negatively affected my industry, I created IMPASTIAMO as a way to continue supporting the agency, the food industry, and now even the music industry. IMPASTIAMO is a platform that hosts cooking classes with chefs all over the world, allowing them to earn some money during the pandemic. Over the course of 6 months we’ve hosted over 50 classes with chefs from Italy, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Los Angeles, San Francisco, NYC and more. Thanks to sponsors, we’ve been able to raise money for nonprofits such as No Us Without You, various California Food Banks, and we’re now working on Feed the Music, a series of cooking classes hosted by musicians, in support of Crew Nation, a nonprofit formed by Live Nation in support of the concert industry. This series is something that’s extremely dear to my heart, as my career started in music and concert production. I was a Live Nation employees for over eight years, and I am humble to be able to give back to all that music has given to me so far. IMPASTIAMO is different the other cooking platforms because 92% of the class revenue benefits the chefs and because the cooking classes are live on Zoom, vs being recorded. This allowed us to create a real neat community of people who take classes even once a week. We’re really getting to know each other and make new friends, which is really special. One of my biggest challenges with my business has been Covid. Lovell productions was born with the mission of inspiring our community one event at the time. With Covid, I quickly had to figure out how to continue creating events, but online. Online has its own challenges, it’s passive and not as engaging as real events. I feel like cooking online has been a good solution to create something that will keep people interested and can make a positive impact onto so many people’s lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot in Los Angeles is the Hammer museum. I love the art that it brings and all the programming they offer is always so great. I have a favorite hike near my place too, but it’s secret so I can’t reveal it here!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My cousin Gina, she was the first one to sign up to all of our classes, helped me market them, helped me cook. She’s always been a huge support for me!
