Meet Saidy Llamas Mena | Photographer & Esthetician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Saidy Llamas Mena and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Saidy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The success of my business comes from the genuine care and comfort I provide to each client. I believe that understanding someone’s unique skincare needs goes beyond just recommending products or treatments, it’s about truly listening and creating a personalized experience that makes them feel seen and cared for. My goal is to build a space where clients can relax and trust that they’re in good hands, knowing that their comfort and well-being are my top priorities. Every treatment is tailored to their specific concerns, and I’m constantly educating myself on the latest skincare techniques and trends to make sure I’m offering the best possible service. Creating this environment of safety and warmth allows clients to feel more confident in their skin, which, to me, is the most rewarding part of my work. The relationships I build with clients are based on trust and respect, which I believe is the heart of my business’s success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a License Esthetician, my mission is to help people feel truly confident and comfortable in their own skin. I offer a range of personalized skincare treatments and full-body waxing services, all designed to bring out the best in your skin. l’ve been in your shoes-I struggled with acne for years and know how challenging it can be to find the right solutions. This personal experience drives my passion for what I do, and it allows me to connect with my clients on a deeper level.
I’m not just here to provide a service; I’m here to walk with you through your entire skincare journey. Whether you’re dealing with stubborn breakouts, sensitive skin, or just want to maintain a healthy glow, I’m here to support you every step of the way. I take the time to listen to your concerns, understand your goals, and create a customized plan that’s just right for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and cared for, so you can leave each session feeling not just refreshed, but truly empowered.
Getting to where I am today as an esthetician has been quite a ride. I spent seven years working as a full-time photographer, capturing moments and creating visual stories. Photography was my passion, but over time, I found myself drawn to a different path. Initially, I had my sights set on becoming a wax specialist. However, as I explored the world of skincare, I discovered a deep love for it that I hadn’t anticipated. The more I learned, the more I realized that this was where I truly wanted to be.
Transitioning from a career in photography to becoming an esthetician was far from easy. Going solo right out of school was definitely challenging. After finishing my esthetician training, I jumped straight into starting my own business. I didn’t have the luxury of working under someone else’s wing, so that meant facing numerous obstacles, from building a client base to figuring out the ins and outs of running a new business. There were definitely days when I wondered if I’d made the right choice.
Despite the difficulties, I found ways to make it work. Photography has been a huge asset in my new skincare career. It’s allowed me to capture amazing photos and videos of my work, which has helped me create engaging content for my clients. It not only showcases the results they can expect but also helps me connect with them on a more personal level.
Most importantly, I’ve learned the significance of perseverance and believing in yourself. Balancing two careers and managing a business can be overwhelming. Taking time for yourself and practicing self-care is essential for maintaining your well-being and staying motivated. What excites me the most is seeing the positive impact of my work on my clients. Whether it’s through a glowing complexion or a relaxing treatment, being part of their self-care journey and helping them feel their best is incredibly rewarding.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh my hahah. Hmm if my best friend was visiting for a week long trip we’d start with a relaxing morning at Laguna Beach, followed by brunch at Madres Brunch in uptown Whittier. Explore the stunning trails of Eaton Canyon, then head to Tierra Mia for some artisanal coffee. Spend a day wandering around the Santa Monica Pier or Malibu Pier, enjoying the ocean views and local eateries. Take in a Dodgers game for a classic LA experience. Explore the bars in DTLB or DTLA. We’d go get some savoring tacos de Birrieria and relax with a scenic Long Beach boat ride, and end with a night of bowling. Dedicate a day to the thrills of Disneyland or Knotts Berry Farm. There’s just so much to do!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the incredible support system that has played such a vital role in my journey. First and foremost, my kids and family, whose love and encouragement have always been my foundation. My husband, who has been my rock and partner every step of the way, offering endless support and belief in my dreams. I also want to acknowledge the mentors who have guided and inspired me throughout my career, sharing their wisdom and helping me grow both personally and professionally. Lastly, a special shoutout to my fellow estheticians, my Esti Bestie friends who have been there to share knowledge, collaborate, and uplift one another in this ever evolving industry. Your impact on my story is immeasurable, and I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you.
