Meet Alana Cooler | Marketing Executive & Small Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alana Cooler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alana, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
Kristin Hannah is an auto-buy author for me because her novels are always so moving and impactful. She clearly does extensive research to craft rich, nuanced stories that really resonate with me on an emotional level. I often find myself getting teary by the realness of her character development and the themes she explores. Her most recent novel, The Women, was no exception. Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War, the story follows women nurses (specifically one) and dives into powerful themes of PTSD, family relationships, and the complexities of love. I was completely captivated by the story. The Women is a true testament to Kristin Hannah’s skill as a storyteller, all her books have stuck with me long after turning the final page.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bookish Bliss Literary Retreats was born out of a deep, lifelong passion for literature shared by the two co-founders. What sets us apart is our commitment to curating exceptional, immersive retreats that go beyond the typical book club getaway. We design each itinerary to be a multi-sensory, transformative experience that seamlessly interweaves thought-provoking discussions, author interactions, nature explorations, cuisine, and unique experiences.
The road to building Bookish Bliss has had its challenges, but the passion that drives us is our love for stories and community. We’ve learned that authenticity, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to our mission have been the keys to our success. Looking ahead, we’re most excited about continuing to expand our reach and impact, inspiring others to celebrate reading as an essential part of life and showing everyone that literature has the power to unite, transform, and connect us.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d recommend coming in September after the summer crowds have died down, but you can still enjoy plenty of fun activities. We would start our day in Downtown LA by exploring The Last Bookstore, then head to a rooftop for lunch and drinks. Afterwards, catch a Dodgers game for some local iconic sports excitement. The next day we would go to the beach and bring a book to discuss and enjoy a picnic. Finally, end the trip with a girls’ brunch in West Hollywood, followed by a bookstore visit and photo op in front of the iconic museum lights.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to recognize my close friends and family who have been there for me through literally everything. Their endless support, love, and encouragement have truly been invaluable in helping me continue to grow. I also have to give a SHOUTOUT to Reese Witherspoon and her company – her inspiring work both on and off the screen has been a constant source of motivation for me. Seeing how she’s used her platform to uplift and empower others has been hugely impactful.
