Meet Heroek | Music producer and podcast host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heroek and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heroek, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
The idea of “success” is different from person to person, and even changes based on your industry or job. For me, I hope to attain success in the future by doing what I truly love and makes me happy, and do it at such a level that it’s my main source of income. Once I reach the point of having my music and podcast being the things supporting my lifestyle, I think I’ll really take a step back and be able to enjoy the journey at a whole other level.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I’m most proud of changes based on what creative project of mine I’m talking about. For my music, I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting better about overcoming the fear that’s involved with releasing new music. While I started off trying to find an audience separate from friends and family, and keep my creativity on the down-low, I’m now much more confident and comfortable sharing what I do with the world.

And in terms of my podcast, it definitely hasn’t been easy, but it’s gotten me to the point where rejection, or the fear of it, has almost no hold on my creative projects anymore. I used to shy away from asking music artists that I thought were “too big” to come on my podcast, but I’ve slowly been breaking down those self-imposed barriers, and shooting for the stars. I’m so proud of many of the artists and bands I’ve already had on, and hope that I can continue to have conversations with many of the music icons I look up to.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So many ideas come to mind, and I think it’d be a great trip not only for them, but myself too. Growing up in Los Angeles, so many of the things I’d invite them to do hold a weight of nostalgia and childhood memories for me.

We’d definitely get at least one, if not multiple meals from In-N-Out, and find a day to head to Universal Studios and enjoy everything it has to offer. Returning to Los Angeles for college has been amazing, as I’ve found whole new areas of the city I love to connect with. From a bunch of record stores around including Arroyo Records, we’d also absolutely stop by Belle’s bagels for one of the best bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve said it for years, but I truly admire the hardcore work ethic of one of my childhood heroes, Kobe Bryant. Seeing how he wanted to not only try everything he did but wanted to dominate and be one of the best is really inspiring. From winning NBA championships and Oscar awards, to writing books that top charts, he seemed to have a genuine drive and passion to be great in everything he did. That message is what has inspired me to continuously improve upon and grow all the ventures I take, from improving my podcast editing to bettering my music production.
