Meet MUSZETTE

We had the good fortune of connecting with MUSZETTE and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MUSZETTE, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
I think people who are not in a creative field are probably unaware of the time it takes to BE creative, and that being a creative tends to take over your life. Yes, there are moments when I can get in the zone and churn out 3 songs in a day, but most of the time true inspiration comes in few and far between moments. Therefore, you have to take advantage when sometimes the spark hits you at 1AM, you have to keep yourself open and receptive to your emotions so that you can channel that into your work, and you have to have extreme patience in continuing to work at your craft – especially when you’re not getting paid for it. Even when I get paid well for an hour of my time, I’m really getting paid for the hours upon hours I worked to be at the level I can perform at.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve recently just this year begun embarking on a new, or rather more defined narrative for MUSZETTE that I’m really excited about. MUSZETTE has always encapsulated empowerment, growth, and radical self love, and in many ways I feel like it will still take us some time to make that mindset more of the norm. So therefore, I’ve really leaned into a futuristic branding for myself, which felt very aligned because I’ve always been fascinated by astrology, astronomy, and celestial symbology. You will definitely see this at my EP Release Party I’m doing at The Troubadour Aug 28th (as well as subsequent shows this year)! (Ticket link will be avail below.) I’ve gotten to where I am today by continuing to put one foot in front of the other and deciding that quitting was no longer an option. When you decide that, you start asking yourself the right questions. Instead of, “what else could I do to make more money or feel better about myself,” it’s “who else could I work with that can take me to where I want to be, what resources am I not using, what skills can I improve on to be the best.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA really has something for everyone. I think you’ve gotta spend a day in Malibu if you’re here, as well as Topanga Canyon – there is just something really magical and peaceful about it, as well as incredible hikes and amazing restaurants like Taverna Tony’s and Malibu Seafood. There is also sure to be someone incredibly talented performing at either The Greek, Hollywood Bowl, or one of the many famous music venues, (myself included lol). Of course you’ve got to spend a day at the beach, do some shopping on Melrose, go to a farmer’s market, and maybe even do a few clubs!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well let me start with my Mom, who I have and will continue to dedicate any small win or success I have, because she has always been my biggest cheerleader, confidant, and supporter. She has never stepped foot in the music industry herself, but the fact that she has believed in me since before I believed in myself will always be the foundation I base my career on. And more recently, I would definitely like to shoutout my producer, Duddy Brown, of my upcoming EP, Rare Form – out August 23! Duddy is one of those people who inspires everyone he works with to be better and can push you in the best way possible to more of your potential. I am so proud of the music we’ve made together so far and we’re just getting started!
