Hi Mayra & Robert, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting our own business has been extremely out of our comfort zone! We both went to college with the goal of obtaining a good steady job. Starting a business was never in our radar. We’ve always love hosting parties for our kids and one day it just hit us. We wanted to pursue our entrepreneurial impulse and decided to take a risk. Starting this business has been the most stressful yet rewarding experience of our lives and we couldn’t have asked for better business partners than each other.

What should our readers know about your business?
We think what separates us from others is that we truly enjoy doing what we do. I think enjoying what we do shows in our customer service. We get a lot of joy from being a part of people’s special events and it is our pleasure to provide them with a great experience from beginning to end. We are really excited to watch our business grow. We have learned so much in the little time we have been doing this. We got to where we are today by lots of preparation. We did a ton of research in the Modern Bounce House, Soft Play, and Balloon industry and we feel that our preparation put us in the best possible place to be successful. It definitely was not easy. It took a lot of effort and sacrifice to make this happen but we knew it would going in. We feel that sticking together and being teammates has helped us overcome a lot of challenges. We both have our different strengths and we utilize them to overcome any challenges we may come across. Someone lessons we’ve learned along the way is that If you want something good to happen, you have to make it happen yourself. Our motto is, “Nobody is coming.” Nobody is going to give you a hand out. You have to work hard and earn everything you have. What we want the world to know about our story is that if you have even an ounce of entrepreneurial impulse or ambition, you should definitely pursue it. You don’t have to be rich to start a business. If you’re passionate about something and willing to put in the hard work, go for it! You won’t regret it! That’s what Munchkin Explorers is all about. Working hard and pursuing your dreams.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Great question! We’re big sports fans so if you’re in town we definitely recommend a Dodgers or Lakers game. Other great recommendations is Hollywood Boulevard for night life and sight seeing. If you’d like to go on a hike we recommend the Hollywood sign. For a fun day out with the family we recommend Santa Monica Pier. There you can enjoy the beach and tons of activities. Also last but not least, if you’re in town you have to visit the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland .

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely our family deserves recognition. We would not be able to do this without them! Our family helps us with babysitting during our full time jobs and during event days, borrowing a truck when we need it and also helps us set up some events!
