We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiara Aguillon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiara, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Influencer Marketing has taken on a new edge in current day. Whereas in 2020, while everyone was home and glued to their phones, now we have to work smarter about how influencer partnerships come about, how to make sure they’re seen, and the brand’s dollars are put to efficient use.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve had a really unique portfolio career of gaining expertise across a multitude of specialties. They all intersect.
From ecommerce, to media, TV, to digital media, to influencers, to movies, it’s all made for quite the journey. Getting to this point was a mixture of saying no to fear and going where the market demanded there was a need. It’s been an interesting time as we’ve seen linear TV phase out, seen AI come about, and had to pivot to where the job demanded. It’s actually made me a much stronger professional and a savvy trend predictor keeping my eye on the pulse and where its headed.
I’d like to dispel the theory that you have to focus on just one craft for the rest of your life. You certainly can if that’s your ambition or you can challenge yourself to do things you enjoy and gain new skills that are all inter-related. For example, I started in ecommerce brand side then pivoted to helping talent sell the product through a digital medium. It has all come together harmoniously to make me a unique and strong marketer with a more 360 POV.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1. We’d start at Alfred on Melrose Place for the best matcha and celeb watching.
2. Continue the people watching at Runyon Canyon.
3. For Lunch, we’re going to Avra for the amazing lunch special and to walk around Beverly Hills.
4. Then we’re going back to Melrose for a bit of boutique shopping
5. Finally we’re ending the night at Gracias Madre or Craig’s for that unique LA dinner time experience.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Who can I credit here….I think I take a little piece of every positive interaction I have with my closest family and friends and embody that in my everyday life and success. So thanks to mom, uncles, aunts, friends who are like sisters and brothers, and my professional colleagues.
