Meet Karina Marquez | Beauty Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina Marquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karina, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think taking risks has played a huge role in my life and career path. My best example of this is me moving across the country from Connecticut to LA. It was a huge move and it definitely wasn’t easy. I based this move purely off of just my gut feeling and intuition telling me to go and I was super emotional about leaving my comfort zone and my family but, now that I’m here, so many doors have opened for me and confirmed this was the right move. If I had let my emotions and fear get in the way and stayed in my comfort zone, I never would have known how good it could get.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always loved the idea of creating content ever since I was a kid who loved watching YouTube videos. I would make short videos on my computers webcam and edit them by myself just for the fun of it and I knew I wanted to post my own content online one day. As I got older, that never changed and I realized the thing I loved so much was something I could make a career out of. What I didn’t realize was how much trial and error there would be once I decided content creating would be my career path. As a girl who loves so much about life, it was hard for me to “niche” down to one form of content and in that, it definitely made it harder to build a following but my hope for my platform and community is that people would go to my page and just get inspired – period. I mainly post beauty content because it is something I genuinely enjoy and as a Latina, I love to be a part of the representation in the beauty industry especially for Dominicans! Aside from that though, I think I have a very positive outlook on life and I love to show my world outside of beauty as well. I constantly get messages from people telling me I’ve inspired them in so many ways and that to me is the biggest motivation. I just want to have a positive effect on others whether it’s helping them out in terms of haircare, skincare and, makeup or, if it’s inspiring them to follow their dreams, and live their absolute best life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I would definitely go to Laguna for our beach days and grab some ice cream or food afterwards by the cute shops. I recently went to a bar called Mama Shelter and had a blast so we’d have to stop there for a night out or bar hop in West Hollywood. For food, I love a good acai bowl and my favorite spot so far has been RioZonas so we’d definitely have to grab a bowl there!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to give credit to my beautiful parents, sisters, and my boyfriend. I’m so blessed to have such a strong support system always encouraging me to put my all into what I love.
