We had the good fortune of connecting with Clover Choi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Clover, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
When I was five years old I received a little turquoise digital camera that ignited my love for all things photography and videography. From there I began taking blurry photos of my toes to recording videos for my stuffed animals. After my freshman year of high school, I launched a new Instagram profile dedicated to blogging. I wanted to create a personal space where I could feel free to express myself and post whatever inspired me. As I shared my passions, I became captivated by the idea that I could turn these interests into a business, allowing me to brand myself authentically. I saw the potential to connect with others who shared similar interests and to build a community around my creative pursuits, blending my love for content creation with entrepreneurial aspirations. This journey has motivated me to explore various social media platforms and combine my passions with opportunities for growth, connection, and learning new skills from talented individuals.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work as a lifestyle blogger and content creator has been a journey of trial and error, studying algorithms, following trends, and creating a brand of @clovchoi. It hasn’t been an easy process, as there’s no set formula to content creation like a traditional 9-to-5 job might have. While templates can provide a starting point, nothing remains stagnant in the ever-evolving social landscape. I’ve faced challenges in getting caught up in the “what-ifs” of blogging such as judgment or creative blocks, but I’ve learned to embrace the freedom to post whatever resonates with me, understanding that it’s not about others’ opinions; it’s about expressing my passions and inspiring individuals to find their fire. I want the world to know Clover Choi as a storyteller who inspires others to live authentically, embrace the journey of life wholeheartedly, and cultivate a holistic lifestyle that celebrates individuality through art, adventure, confidence, and well-being.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s start off in the hills! Brunch at Farmshop located in the Brentwood Country Mart for some fantastic farm-to-table finds. A little bit of shopping is always needed when you’re in LA. We’ll hit the Palisades Village and stop for the newest celeb smoothie collab at Erewhon. Dinner at Horses on Sunset for the vibrant vibes, crayons on the table, and refreshing endive salad. Dessert at Salt and Straw because you can’t go wrong with some olive oil ice cream to end the night. One day we’ll take the drive up to Malibu. We’ll stop at the Malibu Country Mart during the morning fog then make our way to the beach for a day of people watching and beach reads. And since we drove all the way up to Malibu, we must treat ourselves to Nobu for dinner, or the Malibu McDonald’s (your choice!). We can do a Melrose day to visit the Melrose Trading Post and live out our 2017 nostalgia at the Pink Wall. And another day driving down south to Orange County for dream house hunting in Corona Del Mar. While we’re in OC I’ll take you to my favorite restaurant of all time, Houston’s, for their delectable burger which has been my favorite meal since I was six years old. I could go on and on, do we really only have one week?
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my number one cheerleader, motivator, support system, favorite chef, work out buddy, and all around favorite person in the entire universe, my Mommy. From working long hours to waiting an extra five minutes before every meal so I can get the perfect food pic, I love you more than anyone in this entire world. Thank you for being my greatest advocate and for instilling in me the realism needed to conquer my ambitions. I am constantly inspired by you, your brains, and your heart, and strive to be a little bit more like you every day. I love you, Mommy.
