We had the good fortune of connecting with Atheana Ritchie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Atheana, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success with photography and my astrology business is a willingness to fail. A willingness to get back up, dust off my shoulders and see where my failures can lead to growth. Enjoying the process along the way and never limiting myself to what other people think I can or can’t do. As a creative we have to accept the fact that we do not fit in one box, there is no cookie cutter path to follow to get the “golden keys” to success. If you are truly a creative person you are endlessly talented in many different aspects- Its just most people do not nurture nor explore their “other” creative pursuits because they feel like they have to do x,y, and z to make it.

You have to love your flaws, love your failures, love the day to day, love learning, love growing, and just be an
absorbant sponge when it comes to expanding your mind creatively.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help and also never give up. It’s that simple.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As far as writing and producing Im currently working on two scripts. When I sit down and write any new project the first question I ask myself is “What kind of story do I want to tell?” and “Who is this story speaking to?”. I also make it a point to keep the characters very diverse and reflective of the world from my perspective. I also make sure to humanize every character (even the “bad” ones) because I feel like so many characters in todays movies and Tv shows are very 1 dimensional. I want to help the viewer understand yes, this person is seemingly awful but what happened in their life to help shape them into such a human.

Writing for me has its challenges as I am neurospicy (I have ADHD and Narcolepsy). I have to make sure I am well rested, fully hydrated, and free from distraction in order to do my best work.

Ive learned that as a writer it’s important to put your ego aside and to show your work to as many people so you can see how they are digesting your art. Maybe you need to adjust the dialogue or fix the structure to make it more palatable. I want the world to know that women can write, women are funny, and more representation is needed in front and behind the camera.

As far as photography, during the pandemic I bought a camera off of a friend for fun and years later I just can’t seem to put the camera down. I love capturing the truth in my photos and telling a story beyond the typical “posing” pics. I love capturing peoples essence and their best version. I never forget I took my camera to the set of Wildn Out which began my loving journey of photography. Im most excited about growing my photography business and taking wedding and engagement photos. Challenges I have faced with photography is my failing vision. If I forget my glasses when I shoot it’s going to be an interesting shoot. But regardless, you learn what your obstacles are and you learn to work around them.
Never give up.

As far as my astrology page on TikTok , I started the one page in 2021 for fun and honestly it blew up. I guess people want to know why they act the way they act. Now I have four astrology accounts, (@aintastrologyfunny @geminiloving @youreanaries @damnyoureascorpio) and they main theme of each of those astrology pages is to roast people and their zodiac signs. People actually pay me to roast their birth charts and I don’t hold back. I will call you everything short of a child of God, I will tell you that you need therapy, and that your daddy don’t love you. People love it and they eat it up.

The challenge behind these astrology pages is posting consistently. In order to grow you have to post every single day. Some days I don’t want to- but I still do because that’s how you grow and succeed. Ive learned not to take anything personal and to not care about what people think. If you got haters you are doing something right! lol.

With all things stay true to yourself and never give up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in the city honestly are your local park. It’s so peaceful. People leave you alone. You can take your dog and see other peoples dogs. You can pack a lunch and bring a frosty beverage. I live in Los Angeles so the weathers always nice out here.

If you want my advice on a fire spot to eat at go to El Compadres in West Hollywood and get the crispy beef tacos. Yum!

If you want a memorable night with unique fun go to Downtown LA and go to Level 8. They have 8 separate Venus with various themed bars and restaurants. Its a blast!
