Meet Jasmine Rae | Interior Design& Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Rae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, why did you pursue a creative career?
It’s a long story, but I will do my best to make it short. I’ve always been a creative, artistic person. I went to college for psychology because of my deep love for people, but when I finished and tried to work a regular 9-to-5 job, I struggled to stay passionate, focused, and driven. Like many other creators, I felt I was made for something more.
I didn’t intentionally pursue an artistic or creative career; it all happened organically during one of the worst seasons of my life. I was going through a separation from my then-husband, my heart was broken, and I had left my job. I have a deep relationship with the Lord, so all I could muster the energy for in that season was to worship God. I didn’t want to leave my house for what felt like months; I live-streamed the Upper Room Dallas worship sets and cried day after day. I felt completely devastated by what had happened to me, and I had little vision or hope for how things could improve. One day, while worshipping, I heard Him whisper, “Do something you enjoy.” I looked around for something I could do without leaving the safety of my home. I felt so much shame about my “Christian marriage” failing that even the thought of going out and possibly having to explain my situation was too painful. So, I considered my indoor options, and that’s when the idea to start decorating and making over my converted garage apartment emerged. I began doing DIY projects and decorating my space, one project at a time, while documenting the process on video. I hadn’t initially intended to post it to YouTube, especially since my earlier clips were filmed vertically, but at some point, I felt compelled to share it.
As I transformed old things, restored them, and gave them new life, I felt the Father restoring and transforming me, reminding me that I, too, could have another chance at new life. He was teaching me that as I put my life in His hands, He was taking His time with me, rebuilding and renewing me in the process. He showed me that nothing I had experienced could destroy me to the point of being beyond redemption and that nothing disqualified me from what He still had in store for me.
That’s where my YouTube channel was born—a place where things are transformed, where dead things are brought back to life, where old things are made new, and where beauty arises from what was once just ashes. I pursued a creative career because God placed it before me during what I perceived as the worst time of my life. My Creator, the Creator of the universe, called me to create and bring beauty into the world because that’s what He does. He called me to restore things and bring new life because that’s His nature. I yielded my pain to His leadership, and He created something meaningful and beautiful from what seemed beyond repair. He exceeded all I could have asked or imagined.
It’s still a journey to rebuild my YouTube channel after a few breaks I’ve taken for healing, but I am back and stronger than ever, ready to face and overcome every obstacle that comes my way. I’m so grateful to be on this journey.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Something that may be interesting about my youtube channel, is that I have no background in design or in filming or being on camera. Everything that I am doing now I have learned along the way as I am doing it. Sometimes I feel like an imposter and like I don’t really know what I am doing but then I remember my goal was never to be an expert in design or to have the most epically edited videos my heart behind my channel was to bring a little bit of love and light into the world. To show up and inspire people and remind them that you can create beauty around you no matter your circumstances or financial situation.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting the area for the first time I would definitely take them to get burritos from at least one of my favorite Mexican food spots. I would take them to watch a beach sunset in Long Beach and walk the pier and then if they are active I would take them to hike Eaton Canyon or Switzerland Falls trail. And I would probably throw a little back yard bbq and host a little game night so they could meet some of other amazing friends.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I have anything, I owe it all to Jesus Christ for saving my life, setting me free from depression and anxiety, and giving me a sound mind. I am also grateful to all my amazing pastors who have walked with me over the years, especially my current pastor, Dennis Lamar, for helping me through such a painful season and carrying me until I was able to walk on my own. They will never fully know how much they changed my life.
