We had the good fortune of connecting with Calvin Lethal Labeija and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Calvin, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I had to make was leave and establishment that you are making a significant change because your calling requires you not to stay in one place and be complacent in a place you have brought forth significant change. For me having to go this route often times kept me from really wanting to do more, over time I have to come learn and understand that your path is already made for you its up to you to truly have faith an believe in yourself. If all else fails believe in what you are capable of doing. knowing that you are working towards something greater than makes all the trials and tribulations worth it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art comes from a level of experiences of the things I have encountered in life, For me I like for my art to have a level of realism of events and stories which have transpired from times of History and how it has effected the present. In my personal opinion it preserves the history of people from the past, Essentially for me it takes levels of creativity to another level, I always feel that nothing is new under the sun but often elevated through inspiration of those who came before you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend is visiting the area the first thing we are doing is going to see some views LA in my opinion has some of the most beautiful views when it comes to seeing the landscape of the los. Angles California Landscape. Being that I am a person who loves the calmness of nature we most defiantly have to see the sunsets of California near the beaches. As far as eating Soul cantina, Fixins, and the Thai restaurants in Hollywood. With the nightlife we will most likely end up in Who to party with the community and end our night at the After hours.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank and give a shoutout to God for creating this journey in my life and allowing me to be the human being that I am. A special shout out to my Mother and Father for birthing me and allowing me to be my true authentic self no matter what the circumstances. I want to thank my current house family the Royal and Iconic California chapter of Labeija for pushing me to another level of greatness. I have learned that you can do great things but yourself but to do it with a team allows it to make a greater statement in life.
