We had the good fortune of connecting with Brynn Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brynn, how does your business help the community?
At JOYN, our mission is to help people feel more confident and comfortable while drinking. Ever since I started drinking, I would turn bright red after 1 sip of alcohol. Not only did this feel physically uncomfortable, but I also felt judged and insecure when my face would look like a tomato in social settings.

This is why I created JOYN, to offer people a natural solution to help reduce their alcohol flush, while also promoting long-term health and overall well-being. By giving people the confidence to engage in social moments without worry or self-doubt, we’re empowering them to show up fully as themselves.

We believe everyone deserves to feel included and confident, and JOYN is here to help make that a reality.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career has been a unique journey, shaped by my diverse background in supplements, advertising, PR, and marketing. These experiences have given me a well-rounded perspective and the skills necessary to start and run a business. What sets me apart is how I’ve applied this experience to create JOYN, a brand that addresses the real and deeply personal problem of alcohol flush.

One of the moments I’m most proud of is getting JOYN into Urban Outfitters just six months after launching our brand. That milestone validated all my hard work and proved that people saw value in what I was building. But the best part of my job isn’t the accolades—it’s hearing from customers about how JOYN has changed their lives. Knowing that I’m helping people feel more confident and comfortable in social settings means everything to me.

However, getting to where I am today was far from easy. Plenty of people told me how hard it is to start a business or that my idea would never work, but I didn’t listen. I asked questions, did my research, embraced failure, and took a leap of faith.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that good things take time. There’s no such thing as an overnight success. Building something meaningful requires patience, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in yourself and your vision.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest I just moved back to LA after living in NYC for 3 years and it’s not the same city it used to be. A lot has changed, but places like Koreatown and Silver Lake/Echo Park have been standouts for me lately, especially with their incredible Asian food scenes.

I recently went to Fatty Mart in Mar Vista and it was such a good vibe with modern, Asian-inspired bites. Din-Tai Fung is my favorite restaurant in the entire world, so I definitely take my friend there.

My favorite thing about LA is the beach, so I’d take them to Manhattan Beach in the South Bay followed by dinner at Little Sister (Southeast Asian fusion). And of course, no LA trip would be complete without hiking to the Hollywood sign, so I’d bake that in somewhere too.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to Marne Velasquez, the former CMO of Califia Farms, who has been an incredible mentor to me over the past two years. Observing how she turned Califia Farms into a household name and a leader in the plant-based industry has been nothing short of inspiring, but her influence extends far beyond the products she’s helped bring to market.

Marne has profoundly shaped me as a founder and a person. Her insights into business, brand-building, and leadership have been transformative, teaching me lessons that extend far beyond building JOYN. More than that, Marne has been a constant source of support and encouragement. She has challenged me to think differently and isn’t afraid to push me outside my comfort zone, asking tough questions and holding me accountable in ways that have helped me grow. She’s taught me to embrace challenges, celebrate progress, and continuously strive for excellence. I truly can’t thank her enough for the time, energy, and care she has invested in me.
