Meet Paige & Kelly Mcreynolds | Sisters & Co-Founders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige & Kelly Mcreynolds and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paige & Kelly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, starting MCREY wasn’t the result of some grand, years-in-the-making master plan. If anything, my sister and I dove in headfirst without overthinking it (and let’s be real—if we had stopped to think about it too much, we might have scared ourselves off. Ha!).
It all began with a moment of pure frustration. We were tired of the lack of dirt bike gear options for women. The same question kept popping into our heads: ‘Why can’t we have gear that’s functional, stylish, and actually designed to fit a woman’s body? Surely we’re not the only ones feeling this way!’
The idea just clicked—two female riders (who, by the way, aren’t pro racers nor “affiliated” with the industry) creating gear that we’d actually be excited to wear. And not just for ourselves, but for women and girls of all ages who want to feel confident and comfortable while riding.
As we developed the brand, one thing became crystal clear: we wanted to stand out by being unapologetically feminine. The industry’s been stuck in a rut for years, clinging to this hyper-masculine vibe that can feel intimidating. We thought, ‘What if we could change that?’ By making gear that speaks to the current market and inviting more women and girls into the sport, we’re not just filling a gap—we’re helping reshape the narrative around it.

What should our readers know about your business?
As I’m sure most founders will confirm, starting a business is definitely not all sunshine and rainbows. There are moments when it feels really dark. Like, how do you not doubt yourself when you’re buried in debt, the industry “experts” are telling you you’ve peaked, it’s been weeks since your last sale, and then—surprise!—a manufacturing hiccup sets you back $10k you don’t even have?! It’s an emotional rollercoaster that can seriously test your mental health. And over the past four years, there have been more of those days than we can count.
But then, you meet your customers. The woman whose face lights up when she spots our butterfly logo in a sea of men’s brands. The little girl who squeals and hugs our unicorn jersey because it was made just for her. The new rider who tells us she finally feels confident and comfortable learning to ride because of our gear. The parents who thank us for creating a space where their daughter can thrive in a male-dominated sport.
That’s the fuel that keeps us going. We’re so proud of the community we’ve built, and we can’t wait to see what’s ahead in 1, 10, or even 50 years! Our vision? To be the “Bass Pro Shop” for women’s sports gear and equipment. We want to expand into other sports (fishing, snow, water), launch a nonprofit to help underserved communities learn to ride dirt bikes, and even create a women’s scholarship and small business fund. And that’s just the start!
MCREY isn’t just a business—it’s a love letter to our younger selves. It’s a reminder to stay authentically and unapologetically us, even when it feels like we don’t belong. That’s why we keep pushing forward—not just for us, but for the millions of women out there who deserve to feel like they belong, too.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let’s set the scene: it’s summer (arguably the best time to visit Southern California), and we’re rolling out the ultimate itinerary for a visiting friend. Fair warning: we’re packing this schedule with nonstop fun, so get ready!
Day 1: We’re kicking things off with a scenic train ride to Santa Barbara. We’ll explore downtown, do some shopping, and grab lunch at Santo Mezcal (you have to try their ceviche).
Day 2: It’s adventure time! We’re hiking to the Santa Paula Punchbowls for some gorgeous views and a refreshing dip. Afterward, we’ll reward ourselves with pizza and craft beer at Institution Ale Co. on the way back.
Day 3: Water sports, here we come! We’re spending the day at Castaic Lake for wakeboarding, tubing, swimming, and soaking up the sun.
Day 4: A chill day by the pool is in order, but we’ll keep it fun with dinner at Rumfish y Vino, followed by a night out in Downtown Ventura. Drinks at Ventiki and Rocks & Drams are a must!
Days 5 & 6: Off to Catalina Island! This is a can’t-miss experience. We’ll lounge at Descanso Beach Club, sip drinks at Luau Larry’s, and explore the island in style with golf cart rentals.
Day 7: Wrapping up the trip with a relaxing beach day. We’ll finish on a high note with beers on Transmission Brewery’s rooftop deck and dinner at Spencer Makenzie’s.
It’s the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and SoCal charm—summer vibes guaranteed!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To our dear friend and mentor, Jerry Sawitz—thank you for seeing potential in us long before we could see it in ourselves. Your unwavering belief has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. Thank you for challenging us when we’ve felt like giving up, for guiding us when the path seemed unclear, and, most importantly, for being our greatest cheerleader, even when the stands felt empty. Your support has meant the world to us, and we truly wouldn’t be where we are today without you.
