Meet Marc Sealey | Photographer/Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marc Sealey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marc, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have a love for visuals especially in videography and I decided to purchase my 1st DSLR camera to make content on a more serious level. However, after doing a couple videoshoots, I decided to play around with taking photography and recognized that I’m not too bad at capturing moments. This was the birth of my journey and business as a photographer.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My full-time job is actually a Quality Assurance Technician at Coca-Cola Barbados. However, my job allows me some flexibility to pursue a career in videography and photography knowing it is something I love. Just seeing the smiles and excitement of clients when they get the final product is what brings me joy and happiness to continue doing what I love. When I am able to sit down with clients to help them plan and bring to life their concept is what drives my excitement.
Where I am today has been challenging, but still yet enjoyable. I remember starting out using my smartphone to capture videos, actually I’ve done a few music videos using smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 20 Ultra. Of course these are not the most ideal pieces of equipment when it comes to making adjustment, but they got the job done when I started. I added a GoPro to my setup after some time and eventually I was able to add my 1st DSLR a couple years ago to get the most optimal visuals. Inclusive of building my equipment log, I started doing most things for free because I had to build my clientele and form special relationships to be able to keep getting work. With this I was able to do hours of practice which would make me better as a videgrapher and photographer.
I want the world to know that it isn’t an easy road when obtaining your dreams, but with dedication, hardwork and seizing the opportunity when it arises that anything is possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being I’m a native of Barbados, I would start out by taking them to some of our local food spots such as Chefette, Gloria’s in Baxters Road and Yelluh Meat. If we are talking about local beverages, of course a bajan rumshop is a must and probably Six Mix Bar, Mojos and Cafe Sol for their Happy Hour drinks special.
Within our 166 square miles, we have some of the most beautiful attractions when it comes to island life such as: Harrison’s Cave, Andromeda Gardens, The Animal Flower Cave and the Flower Forest. Historic attractions include St. Nicholas Abbey and the Garrison Savannah where Barbados obtained its independence.
Nightlife in Barbados is relatively active where you can visit St. Lawrence Gap and head into ‘The Dive’ to party, have a drink and listen to our leading local reggae band,’Riteside of Red’.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a special shout out to Barbados’ premier vocal band, G-Syndicate for giving me the opportunity to shoot most of their videos as this is where my journey began. Despite being a part of the band, they have allowed me to grow my talent where I can capture and create content when ever the opportunity arises. You can check them out on YouTube. I need to make a special mention of Chanice Lorde, who has supported me and given me inspiration to create content infront and behind the camera. She is amazing with coming up with concepts and ideas which drives the creative juices to flow. If it wasn’t for her, I would not be to the point I am today in pursuing a career that I am growing to love.
