We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcy Avila and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcy, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
“Believing that everything always works out” might sound a little delusional, but honestly, that mindset is what kept me going. I poured all my energy and time into creating—even when the bills were stacking up, even when the odds weren’t in my favor—because I just knew that if I kept going, things would fall into place. And they always did.

Success, to me, has been about embracing that kind of faith while staying adaptable. No matter what happens, I remind myself: everything is alright. Maybe not in the way I planned, maybe not on my timeline, but if I keep moving forward, the pieces eventually fit. That belief—that mix of persistence and adaptability—is what has carried me through.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Creating has always felt natural to me. I never overthought where it would lead—I just focused on doing what I love and keeping myself entertained with what I was making. Whether it was music, acting, or content creation, I followed what felt right, and somehow, that turned into a career.

It wasn’t always easy, of course. There were plenty of challenges, moments of doubt, and times when I had no idea how things would work out. But I kept going, not because I had some master plan, but because I genuinely enjoy creating. That’s what kept me motivated. I believe that when you love what you do, you naturally find ways to keep growing, evolving, and making things happen.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that success isn’t about chasing opportunities—it’s about being so immersed in what you love that opportunities start chasing you. That’s how I’ve approached everything in my career, and it’s what I want the world to know about me. I create because I can’t not create, and I hope that passion comes through in everything I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whenever friends come to visit, there are a few spots I have to take them to. First up, Rainbow Bar & Grill on Sunset—this place is legendary in rock and roll culture, and the food is actually really good. You can almost feel the history in there, like you’re stepping into a piece of music history.

For a night out, No Vacancy in Hollywood is one of my favorites. It’s got such a cool speakeasy vibe, great music, and just the right kind of energy—not too wild, but never boring.

If we just want to chill, Barnsdall Art Park is perfect. It’s one of the best picnic spots in LA, and the views are unreal. Sitting there, looking out over the city, just makes you appreciate LA in a different way.

And then there’s the Goldstein Residence—my friend James Goldstein’s house, which is just on another level. It’s honestly a masterpiece, like something out of a movie (literally, because it has been in movies).

These places all have their own unique vibe, and they’re the kind of spots that make LA feel special. Whether it’s food, music, views, or just a cool experience, they never disappoint!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Success is never a solo journey, and I’ve been lucky to have incredible people who believed in me, even when I doubted myself. First and foremost, I want to thank my parents—for encouraging me to follow my dreams and for their unwavering support. Their belief in me, even when the path was uncertain, gave me the courage to keep going.

To my friends who have cheered me on, pushed me forward, and reminded me who I am when I needed it most, I owe you everything.

I also want to recognize the artists and creatives who came before me—the ones who proved that passion and persistence can turn dreams into reality. Their stories kept me going. And finally, a shoutout to every single person who has ever supported my work, followed my journey, or sent words of encouragement. You have no idea how much that energy fuels me. This journey is mine, but I never walk it alone.
