We had the good fortune of connecting with Valeria Dobler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi VALERIA, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I grew up surrounded by the smell of freshly baked goods because my mom was a baker. Baking has always been therapeutic for me, a way to find peace and creativity. After spending my entire life working in sales, I realized it was time for a change. Now, at 50+, I’ve decided to pursue what I truly love—baking and sharing my passion with others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After living in Argentina for 10 years and taking many baking classes there, I decided to return to the U.S. to start fresh. At first, I worked at my cousin’s furniture store, and I’m forever grateful to them for giving me that opportunity. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t what I loved doing. That’s when I started baking part-time and slowly building a small client base.

Eventually, I decided to take the leap and bake full-time. It was tough in the beginning, and there were moments when I almost gave up. But now, I have my own loyal clientele, and I even participate in farmers’ markets with my newly purchased food trailer. I truly believe that if you’re passionate about something and put your heart and effort into it, you should go for it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take her to places like Santa Monica, Marina del Rey, Santa Barbara, Solvang, and Hollywood to show her the beauty of the area. I’d also bring her to work with me so she can see what I do firsthand. And, of course, I’d have my husband cook for her—he’s an amazing cook—and I’d make her some of my delicious desserts to sweeten the experience!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends have been incredibly supportive, but most importantly, my husband. He has always stood by me, encouraging me in everything I set my mind to. Without his constant support and help, I wouldn’t have been able to make this dream a reality.
