Meet Jean Tariech | Music Composer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jean Tariech and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jean, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I started music at the age of 5, playing classical piano. I wasn’t the best in school, but I was a good musician. So, I decided to pursue this career. I kept working on music because I faced more difficulties than others, especially when it came to expressing myself. Music became my way of communicating.
That’s why I chose this artistic path—because it allows me to express myself in a way that words cannot. Since I’m an energetic person who loves power, strength, and courage, I express those emotions through epic orchestral music, which I’m particularly passionate about.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make epic orchestral music with modern production, creating cinematic, high-energy compositions for trailers, sports, and live events. Starting as a classical pianist in France, I transitioned into film scoring, inspired by composers like Hans Zimmer and Brian Tyler.
I’ve worked on films (BEAT on Amazon Prime, Rosine in LA), composed for France’s National Day fireworks, and had placements on Fox Sports, NBA, NFL, and NCAA games. In 2024, I collaborated with Avengers: Endgame trailer composer Ciaran Birch and expanded into large-scale laser shows.
The journey hasn’t been easy—rejections are frequent—but persistence is key. Moving to LA taught me resilience and how to navigate the industry. My ultimate goal? Scoring major Hollywood trailers and films.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve done this so many times with friends and family visiting me in LA, so I have the itinerary memorized. First, we’d go to Pacific Palisades—though unfortunately, it recently burned down. So instead, we’d head to Malibu Beach for a sunny day, then to Santa Monica Pier, followed by Venice Beach and the Venice Canals. To end the day with a great sunset, we’d go to Culver City’s Baldwin Hills.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout my entire career, my mother has always been there to support me, encourage me, help me, and, most importantly, guide me. Of course, I also had my piano teachers at the Perpignan Conservatory, but I would give a lot of credit to my mom because she has always been there for me.
