We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Finley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi SARA, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I worked in residential real estate for many years, and what I realized over time was my favorite part of helping my clients buy and sell homes was giving them advice on organizing/packing/decorating, etc. One day it just clicked that I was much better and much more passionate about helping my clients organize than I was about transacting real estate deals. So I decided to leave real estate and start an organizing business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have worn many hats in my life and career. I have been an actress, I worked in real estate, property management, and even taught yoga for many years! But my whole life I have always been obsessed with creating organized and beautiful spaces for my friends and clients. Was it easy to start my own business? No, but it felt RIGHT. I have learned that the things that bring the most joy are the things you are most afraid to embark on and then prosper. It is not the easy way, but it is the most rewarding. I want the world to know that I love what I do, and therefore it is not work. It is pure joy to wake up every day with a purpose to help people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It’s hard to answer this question since so much of our beloved city was damaged by the recent fires. I prefer to just say that many of my favorite memories and places to sight see are now gone, and I am in the process of finding new places to explore. I am still mourning so much loss of our city and my fellow neighbors and friends. That’s my best answer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Marie Kondo has been a huge inspiration and mentor to me. I have read all of her books, and attended her training course in London.
