We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronnel Ricardo Parham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ronnel Ricardo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I first began to think about starting my own production company back in 2017 when I was writing my web series, “Odd Man Out: The Series.” I thought it would be the coolest thing in the world to create my own stuff and have it all be under my company. Starting my production company was my way of taking my career back and taking ownership of my career. I knew it would be a struggle at first, but I knew it’d be worth it. And to this day, I couldn’t be happier with my decision to start it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My story is one of hard work, perseverance and mental toughness. I’ve been an underdog my entire life. But I’ve broken the mold. I’m not a statistic. With a relentless work ethic, I’ve opened up opportunities for myself that I didn’t think were possible. That’s probably what I am most proud of. I come from poor beginnings and it’s nothing I’m shamed to say. I grew up playing music, drums to be specific. But I didn’t connect with the creative outlet of acting until I was 19-20 years old. I never once given it a thought to try it before then. But when I found it, or it found me, I instantly knew it would be the connection that would change the course of the rest of my life. Over my career thus far, I’ve been able to proudly refer to myself as an actor first, but additionally, a showrunner, filmmaker, producer, writer, creator and director. My work has earned me membership into SAG-AFTRA and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. I’ve been invited to speak on international and national panels such as Comic-Con International and WonderCon. The best lesson I’ve learned along the way is this–don’t wait on people to save you or change your life. Your life is in your hands (and God’s). If you have a dream or goal, go make it happen yourself. Don’t wait on others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
California is perfect for showing a friend the best time ever. The attractions here are one of the main reasons I decided to move back last year. If we had a week, I’d definitely take my best friend to as many coastal place as possible. Malibu, Ventura and Santa Barbara. And then we’d head south to Long Beach and then San Diego Area. There are so many good restaurants in these cities, but to really get the California experience, you’d have to take advantage of the amazing coastal attractions that we have here.
