Meet Tiffany Liu | Sculptor, Illustrator, Stop-Motion Fabricator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Liu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started sculpting when I was younger after attending a couple art classes and watching my sister’s art journey. It was probably more of a “Well she’s already claimed drawing so I’ll do something different, that’ll show her!” type of decision, but it stuck. After that, my sculpting styles went through different phases in the following years until I landed on the reality I really enjoy sculpting creatures (currently cats).
For the past couple of years I’ve mainly been active in the Stop-Motion Industry where I predominately build sets, props, and backgrounds.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The medium I work with the most often is polymer clay. I’ve experimented with other mediums throughout the years but I find myself coming back to it the most often! A personal lesson I’ve been reminding myself is to lean into self-indulgence as much as possible in my personal work. Art has always been both a hobby and a job for me so I trying to maintain a balance where I’m still able to enjoy it.
On a professional level, the people behind a project are more important than the product itself so I don’t believe health should ever be compromised in the pursuit of art. This is something I make sure stay mindful of when I feel overwhelmed with stressful projects or tight deadlines.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m an admittedly pretty boring person but I WILL willingly leave the house for karaoke. So, 7 straight days of karaoke. (Apologies to my friend)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mainly my older sister who truly influenced a lot of art journey! Thank you, Britney for letting me absorb your skills through passive osmosis. This parasite could truly not be more grateful. Also to my parents for their endless support and love, I have no words for how thankful I am to them.
Also to my lovely roommate Marisa who is extremely talented in her own right and the best company I could ask for! No bad day at work stands a chance against her calm demeanor….
