Meet Manvi Vyas | Aspiring Architect

We had the good fortune of connecting with Manvi Vyas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Manvi, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Architecture has taught me the importance of planning in life and ensuring that everything I do has a clear purpose. Throughout my career, I’ve learned that design is not just about aesthetics but about problem-solving and creating spaces that serve a meaningful function. This mindset has shaped the way I approach challenges—not only in architecture but in life. Whether it’s planning a project, adapting to unexpected constraints, or making career decisions, having a well-thought-out strategy ensures success. More importantly, architecture has reinforced the idea that every action should be intentional, with a strong foundation and a vision for what comes next.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Senior Project Coordinator in the healthcare design industry, what sets me apart is my ability to merge technical expertise with a deep understanding of healthcare environments. I don’t just manage projects—I help create spaces that enhance healing, efficiency, and the overall patient experience. I take pride in coordinating complex projects, collaborating with diverse teams, and ensuring that every detail aligns with healthcare standards and user needs. Seeing a hospital come to life, knowing that it will support life-saving work and improve patient well-being, is what excites me the most.
The reason I am here today is because I work with empathy, a deep sense of belonging, and a true love for what I do. Architecture, to me, is not just about designing structures but about creating spaces that serve a greater purpose. I bring a sense of care and responsibility to every project, ensuring that my designs reflect the needs and emotions of those who will use them.
This passion for meaningful design has led to some incredible opportunities, including my thesis project focused on “Empowering senior citizens”, which was recognized by the United Nations. Presenting my work and receiving an award at the UN in New York was a defining moment that reinforced my belief in the transformative power of architecture. Whether designing for healthcare or advocating for inclusive spaces, I strive to create environments that not only function efficiently but also uplift and empower the communities they serve.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Long Beach for a week, I’d craft an itinerary that blends the best of beaches, art, food, and local culture.
We’d start by exploring Shoreline Village, taking a bike ride along the coast, and enjoying a casual breakfast at Portfolio Coffeehouse. I’d introduce them to the Aquarium of the Pacific, followed by a delicious lunch at The Attic. For the evening, I’d recommend Parker’s Lighthouse for seafood with a view, then a cozy cocktail at BO-beau Kitchen + Roof Tap.
On another day, we’d dive into the local art scene, starting with a visit to the Long Beach Museum of Art and exploring Retro Row for vintage shops and murals. We’d enjoy fresh tacos at Lola’s Mexican Cuisine and finish the day with drinks at The Blind Donkey.
A day trip to Laguna Beach would be perfect for hiking and enjoying the art galleries, and we’d end the day with sunset dining. I’d also make sure to take a ferry to Catalina Island for exploring, followed by a relaxed evening at Ballast Point Brewing.
A visit to Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and the Getty Center would allow us to enjoy more culture, while our last day in Long Beach would include a whale watching tour and a final sunset at Belmont Shore. This itinerary would highlight the best of Long Beach and LA—offering a perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and creativity

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Success has brought me this far in life, but I know I still have a long way to go. Along this journey, I recognize that my achievements are not mine alone—they are the result of the unwavering support, love, and encouragement of those around me.
My Mom and Dad provided me with a strong upbringing, instilling in me the values of hard work, perseverance, and self-belief. Their guidance has been the foundation of my growth. My teachers and colleagues have continuously challenged and supported me, pushing me to improve and refine my skills as an architect. Their influence has been instrumental in shaping my professional path.
Most importantly, my husband has been my greatest motivator, always encouraging me to see my full potential and reminding me of what I am capable of achieving.
Additionally, the book “The Secret” has had a profound impact on my mindset, teaching me the power of positive thinking, visualization, and belief in my dreams. It reinforced the idea that success is not just about talent and effort but also about having the right mindset and attracting the opportunities we desire. While I have accomplished much, I know this is just the beginning, and I am excited for what lies ahead, carrying the lessons and support of those who have helped shape me into who I am today.
