Meet Julie Nunn | Artsit, Designer, Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Nunn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julie, how do you define success?
for me, success is about capturing the worlds beauty through art, inspired by travels and a deep love for the environment. Its finding joy in sharing this passion with my family, nurturing meaningful connections, and embracing life’s adventures together.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is deeply rooted in my connection to nature, especially the ocean and sky, which have always been sources of inspiration for me. I work across various mediums, including ceramics, painting, photography, and teaching art. What sets my work apart is my ability to capture movement and emotion through vibrant colors and textures, often drawing on personal experiences and the beauty of the natural world. I’m most proud of how my art resonates with people, evoking feelings of calm, joy, or introspection. One of the most exciting aspects of my journey is seeing how my work evolves as I explore new techniques and ideas in public installations.
How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
My professional journey has been a mix of passion, dedication, and perseverance. I’ve always had a love for art, inspired by my grandmother, who was an accomplished sculptor and painter. Studying art at the University of the Pacific gave me a strong foundation, but the path wasn’t always easy. There were moments of self-doubt and challenges in finding opportunities to showcase my work. However, I overcame these obstacles by staying true to my vision and continuously refining my craft. Nature has been a healing force for me—spending time by the sea or under open skies helps me reconnect with my creativity and find inspiration when things feel difficult.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that persistence and authenticity are key. It’s important to create art that feels true to yourself rather than trying to fit into trends or expectations. I’ve also learned that building connections with others—whether through collaborations or teaching—can open doors you never expected. Lastly, embracing challenges as opportunities for growth has been transformative for me; every setback has taught me something valuable about myself and my craft.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I want the world to know that my art is more than just visual—it’s an emotional experience tied to nature’s beauty and movement. My brand reflects a commitment to creating pieces that inspire connection and mindfulness. Through my story, I hope people see that it’s possible to turn passion into purpose with hard work and resilience. Whether through exhibitions, commissioned pieces, or teaching art programs, I aim to share not just my creations but also the joy and healing power of creativity.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom, an actress and model and dad, a two time Olympic athlete and artist, instilled creativity and determination.. MY 4 siblings- writers, editors, interior designers, photographers, and athletes- continue our families legacy of innovation and entrepreneurship. I started the Barbara Nunn and Liana Grammenos art foundation to assist in sending women to art school. They were phenomenal artists who helped spark my artist passion.
