Meet Ayushi Chhabra | Creative Alchemist : Performing Artist / Poet / Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ayushi Chhabra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ayushi, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I was in my mid to late 20s, I had no concept of balance. I lived in extremes – it was all about acting and performing, and being the absolute best in every audition, at every shoot, and in acting class. I only cared about my career and how I looked and how much money I made. Life was quite surface level. It was only after covid and almost losing my loved ones, and being forced to slow down, and spend time with family, and my dog, that I developed a deep sense of empathy, kindness, compassion and started enjoying the simpler things in life. Today, in my early 30s, I can confidently say that balance for me, is living a wholesome life. It is impossible to achieve a perfect balance, but it is possible to live in a more wholesome way, where you consciously make time for all aspects of your life that matter to you, not just singularly focusing on one thing. For me, that is family, spirituality, animals, community, self-care and career. Not longer just career.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I came to LA with two suitcases and a dream to become an actor in Hollywood! I was born in India, raised in Nigeria and South Africa, and all I ever wanted to do was act, and be on camera, in any capacity, whether it was a commercial, a print job, or a TV show or film – I just wanted to be on camera. That dream came true in every way possible. From my first co-star as a ‘Pretty Cowgirl’ on ABC to a guest star on Resident Evil on Netflix, my acting journey has been deeply fulfilling and also very humbling at the same time. I have experienced the highest highs of having back to back acting jobs, residual checks and savings, to absolutely no work for years, and many nights of sitting in front of my Hindu Gods praying for just one glimmer of hope… just one booking… anything to make me get out of bed. Many lessons were learned along the way but the biggest one was to stop waiting around for opportunities. CREATE. Write and create. The universe works with those who take action… who are not a victim of their circumstances. Those who build energy and momentum in the right direction. One day, the wall will break down and the floodgates will open. And every thing will be worth it. All those tears, sweat, moments of despair. Everything be worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting, I’d rent a top-down car and hit the road with her—windows down, music up, heading straight for Malibu. Our first stop would be the Lake Shrine. We’d leave our phones behind, stroll around the serene lake, soak in the beauty, and take a moment to write—poems, thoughts, whatever flows.
Afterward, we’d stop by the little juice spot next door for a fresh carrot-orange-ginger juice, then head to the Getty for a slow wander through the museum and gardens, letting the art and nature wash over us.
Lunch would be at Malibu Pier Café—mimosas in hand, ocean breeze in our hair. And to close out the day? A golden hour stop at Point Dume, my favorite place in all of L.A., to watch the sun melt into the ocean. For dinner, we’d dress up and head to either Nobu or Geoffrey’s for a beautiful, coast-kissed meal.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give credit to talent manager, Alison Buck, from Bohemia Group (talent management in LA). Sometimes all we need is one chance, one opportunity, one person to recognize us when we are nobody…and Alison was that person for me who converted me from a pageant girl from South Africa, to a dynamic, multi-layered performer. I owe her my Hollywood experience.
