We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrick Ayres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patrick, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had worked for other people and companies throughout my life but always had an entrepreneur spirit and tried starting multiple businesses, failing and learning along the way.

I really poured myself into my last “real” job and it just didn’t pan out and left me wondering if I was just broken haha

That lead me to peruse my own business and art and eventually led me to where I am today, wrapping up my 4th year as a business owner and creative

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My mother got her masters in business and my father has always been a musician and creative and those two characteristics were kinda engrained in me from an early age.

What I do kinda works for me on all levels. I love working with my hands but also being creative and artistic. Whether is making signs, creating designs for businesses or making funny stickers it just clicks for me. I get to think artistically, get creative and sharpen my business skills daily.

One thing that has kept me going is not letting not knowing what to do stop me from doing what I want to do, make mistakes, fail, go thru the embarrassment, really builds you up for long term successes

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Monterey is a beautiful place, I’d probably take them on a lot of hiking in Big Sur or Carmel Valley, I’m not over the top when it comes to dining experiences, I’m into tacos from Wedo’s or maybe a top notch hot dog from Lucy’s, casual and great local atmosphere! Always fun to hit the arcades like Oscar’s on Cannery Row or Lynn’s Pinball. We have nice farmers markets most days of the week and great local hangs on first Fridays.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a lot of people to be thankful for helping me along my journey, parents and fiancée for sure, clients turned investors turned friends, fellow business owners putting me into positions for success. I’m fortunate to have the support around me!
