We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristi Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It really came from a place of passion first, I didn’t set out thinking “I’m going to start a business.” I was just so obsessed with internet culture and had so much to say, and I noticed there weren’t a lot of people covering these stories. Once the channel started to grow, I realized I had something special and needed to treat it like the brand it was becoming. That’s when my mindset shifted. I started thinking about Spill Sesh not just as a channel, but as a full-on business — how to grow it, protect it, and build something sustainable. It was a really organic process, but also one that pushed me to learn a lot really fast.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I try to give every angle of a story from how we got here, to old internet history, to past stories that feel similar. I’m pulling from all different directions to piece things together so the audience can form their own opinion. It’s never just about throwing headlines together, it’s about giving the full picture and showing why these things matter beyond just being messy or viral.

What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my audience. That seriously means more to me than any subscriber count. People know they can come to my videos and get the facts, the context, and more. I’ve built that from the ground up, and it’s the foundation of everything I do.

And no, it definitely wasn’t easy. I didn’t have a platform or industry connections when I started — just a passion for the internet and making videos. There were so many moments where it felt like I was working non-stop without knowing if it was even going anywhere. The internet moves so fast, and the pressure to always be on can be a lot. But I kept going because I genuinely love what I do. And I’ve learned that consistency and authenticity are everything.

What I want people to know about Spill Sesh is that it’s not just gossip — it’s culture, it’s commentary, it’s connection. There’s real heart behind it. I care about telling stories in a way that respects the people involved while still keeping things honest and engaging. It’s a safe space for internet girlies who love the drama but also want to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface. That’s the energy, and I’m so excited to keep building on it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay if they’ve never been before, we’re absolutely doing some of the classics — like yes, the Walk of Fame even though it’s kinda chaotic, and of course a hike to see the Hollywood sign. Then we’re balancing out all the touristy stuff with amazing food because that’s really where the magic is.

First stop? Dialog Cafe. I’m usually a matcha girl, but their iced chai is basically coffee cake in a cup, I dream about it. We’re sipping that while walking around WeHo, maybe popping into a couple boutiques or vintage spots.

Then we’re definitely doing a drive to Malibu. We’re grabbing sandwiches from Vintage Grocers, getting candy from the little store next to it, and having a beach picnic. On the way back, we’re not skipping Malibu Seafood — I need their clam chowder and fried clam strips, it’s non-negotiable.

Another day, maybe we head to Santa Monica, grab Sunny Blue (if you know, you know — their omusubi is everything), and just walk down to the beach to chill and people-watch.

For a little celeb-spotting and iconic LA vibes, we’re going to Craigs one night. I know it’s a whole scene, but I love it there. The bread basket? Immaculate. And their rigatoni is literally my favorite pasta dish.

Honestly, as you can probably tell, I love food, so the whole itinerary is basically built around where we’re eating next. But we’re mixing in a little bit of everything — classic spots, some beach days, and really good conversations over really good meals. That’s my ideal LA week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh absolutely, I have to give a huge shout out to the viewers. Seriously, Spill Sesh would be nothing without the people who tune in, comment, send tips, and just engage with the content.

They’ve built this community right alongside me. And on a more personal note, I’m super thankful for my friends and family who were so supportive when I first started even when they had no idea what I was doing or thought I was just talking to myself on YouTube. Also, I have to mention other creators who paved the way in the commentary and tea space. Watching them really inspired me to do the same and take that leap. This has truly been such a collective journey, and I feel really lucky to have had people rooting for me from the very beginning.
