Meet Jeanine Johnson | Psychologist in Private Practice

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeanine Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeanine, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was looking for greater autonomy so that I could have the freedom to create the life I truly wanted – which includes work/life balance and time for my hobbies and interests … and last but not least, the opportunity to take better care of myself.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love that my job allows me to witness women connect the dots – to make sense of their journey and gain insight into themselves. To see all the disparate shards of their lives come together to make a beautiful mosaic full of newly found self-awareness and relational understanding – this powerful discovery for clients is a priceless aspect of my work.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My all-time favorite place in LA was Reel Inn off the PCH. It was the perfect vibe – and pet-friendly too! My dog Hubert (“Hubie”) and I’d go to Topanga beach first, then enjoy the perfect meal at the picnic tables alongside the ocean & mountain views.
My favorite neighborhood is Highland Park on Figueroa Street. Homestate’s frozen Palomas & Margarita’s are the best on a hot summer day – Pro tip: mix them 1/2 & 1/2 for a twist!
And the Arts District’s Death & Co for a classy yet lively night out featuring stellar cocktails – Pro tip: eat fancy sausages & dynamite fries at nearby Wurstküche beforehand for a solid base before heading to the bar 🙂
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Marlene V Jaffe, LCSW, has been a marvelous mentor from the very beginning of me opening my solo private practice. She has been a true fount of wisdom & inspiration. Her soulful authenticity radiates warmth – I’m so glad we met in 2017.
