We had the good fortune of connecting with Veronica Hohweiler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I view risk as a necessary part of growth. Every major step in my career — including my rise to the C-suite as Chief Events Officer at We Crush Events — involved stepping into uncertainty. I had to advocate for myself before I felt “ready” and trust that my dedication and vision would carry me through.

One of the biggest risks, especially as a woman, has been speaking up. We’re often conditioned to stay quiet, to not rock the boat. But I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about staying comfortable — it’s about using your voice, even when it’s uncomfortable. I once heard a quote at a conference that stuck with me: “How do I try and get myself fired a little bit every day?” That doesn’t mean being reckless — it means being bold enough to challenge ideas, push boundaries, and stand up for what you believe is right.

Some of the best opportunities I’ve had didn’t come from waiting for permission — they came from betting on myself, raising my hand, asking for more, and stepping forward even when the path wasn’t crystal clear. Risk has never been about being reckless for me; it’s been about choosing growth over comfort, again and again.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been built through a blend of creativity, strategy, and relentless hard work. I always knew I wanted to create experiences that left a lasting impact — I was the little girl planning her future wedding on a legal pad, after all — and that passion for bringing visions to life never left me.

What sets me apart is my authenticity. I lead with kindness, but I also lead with grit. I believe you can be both compassionate and fiercely determined at the same time. That balance is something I bring into how I manage my team, how I serve my clients, and how I continue growing the We Crush Events brand.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. There were seasons of long nights, setbacks, and self-doubt — but every challenge taught me something valuable about perseverance, about staying true to your vision even when things don’t happen on your timeline. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that consistency beats intensity. It’s not about one big win; it’s about showing up with the same level of excellence day after day, year after year.

What I want the world to know about me — and about We Crush Events — is that we care deeply about the work we do and the people we do it with. We’re not here to just check boxes; we’re here to create, connect, and build something that feels personal, meaningful, and lasting.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d definitely kick off with a classic LA day: grab coffee at a cute local spot, wander around The Grove for some shopping (and probably a spontaneous tattoo — because why not?), and then hit up a hot dog stand for an unapologetically messy hot dog. Bonus points if we’re eating it curbside while people-watching.

We’d have to get a good hike in — maybe Runyon Canyon or Griffith Park — something that makes you feel slightly athletic but still leaves plenty of room for photos at the top. It’s basically an LA rite of passage.

I’d plan a dinner at one of my favorite spots like Tsubaki or Bestia one night because you have to live a little when you’re here. But I’d also make sure we balance it out with more low-key spots like a taco truck that’s way better than it has any right to be.

For drinks, we’d bar-hop through the east side — maybe start somewhere vibey like Bar Flores in Echo Park, and end up staying out way longer than we intended. Somewhere in the mix, we’d spend a full afternoon at Smorgasburg LA in the Arts District, because eating your way through 20+ different food trucks is an experience you can’t miss.

One night would be reserved for live music — something spontaneous at The Hollywood Bowl — and maybe a nightcap at a dive bar.

By the end of the week, we’d have new tattoos, questionable photos, full stomachs, and a ton of hilarious stories to bring home — which, to me, is the ultimate goal of any trip.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to dedicate my shoutout to my mom. She was a single mom serving in the military, and she showed me from a very young age what true strength, independence, and dedication look like. Watching her balance so much — with grit, grace, and an incredible work ethic — taught me that success isn’t handed to you; you build it piece by piece through hard work and resilience.

She always emphasized the importance of standing on your own two feet, chasing your dreams without apology, and staying true to your word. So much of who I am today — my drive, my leadership style, my belief in lifting others up — is because of the example she set. I’m endlessly grateful for the foundation she gave me.
