We had the good fortune of connecting with Manuela “Manney” Yeboah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Manuela “Manney”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Being an Entrepreneur Is All About Risk-Taking! As a Christian, I’ve come to understand that entrepreneurship is deeply tied to faith—and faith itself is all about taking risks. One of the foundational scriptures that has always grounded me as an entrepreneur is Hebrews 11:1, which defines faith as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” That verse reminds me that faith isn’t just an idea or an abstract sense of hope—it’s real, and it carries the promise of something greater ahead, even when we can’t yet see it.

To me, that’s what being an entrepreneur is all about. It’s stepping into a vision or dream that hasn’t fully come to life yet, while believing wholeheartedly in its significance and potential. Hebrews 11:1 so beautifully captures that leap—because when you truly believe that what’s ahead is worth it, that belief alone can inspire you to take the risk.

Personally, I took a huge risk when I completely shifted careers in 2023. I had been a high school English literature teacher for four years, teaching African-American and Latino literature to Newark, New Jersey’s finest senior students. Up until that point in my career, I spent most of my adolescence and young adulthood mentoring and supporting youth in under-resourced communities—something I’ve always been passionate about because I grew up in those very communities myself. But in 2023, I felt a strong urge to pursue a different passion: content creation. Not as a typical influencer or blogger, but as someone who wanted to tell meaningful stories—especially at weddings and events—through short-form video content. It was a dream I’d kept close to my heart, and it was difficult to explain to friends and family. Most people knew me as someone who loved to document everything, but very few realized I wanted to do it full-time. So, when I quit my job as a teacher, everyone thought I was crazy. But deep down, I just knew it was time to shift gears.

Initially, I didn’t jump straight into building my business. I fell back on what felt safe–applying for other jobs. Despite having a degree and years of experience, the rejection emails kept piling up. I remember one day slamming my laptop shut in frustration, wondering why nothing was working. Then I thought—CONTENT! It’s time to take that leap. I had already been creating short-form content for family and friends at their weddings and special events. That’s when I realized: my passion could turn into a business!

During prayer one day, my business name came to me: “Manney Got The Shot.” I created an Instagram page, and within a week, I booked my first gig. Then another. And then another. The work kept coming. If I hadn’t taken that leap of faith and walked away from what was comfortable, I wouldn’t be where I am now.

And this brings me right back to Hebrews 11:1. Faith is a substance—a trustworthy confirmation of what we can’t yet see. I couldn’t see exactly what was ahead, but I could confirm in my spirit that it was going to be great.

What should our readers know about your business?
My name is Manuela, but I’m also known as “Manney.” I’m a digital content creator based in New Jersey, offering services across the tri-state area and internationally. I began creating content for weddings and events in 2020 and officially launched “Manney Got The Shot” (MGTS) in 2023.

Manney Got The Shot (MGTS) is a digital content creation company specializing in capturing unforgettable moments at weddings and events, as well as providing social media management to help clients grow their online presence.

The mission of MGTS is: “Creating content that shapes the digital world. Reinventing trends. Overcoming limits.” This motto is rooted in the scripture Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” This scripture is more than just a verse—it’s a guiding principle that reflects my belief that, with Christ’s strength, no challenge is too great and no boundary is too rigid.

At MGTS, I don’t just follow trends—I set them. I’m dedicated to creating content that stands out, reshapes the digital landscape, and leaves a lasting impact. Whether it’s capturing the perfect moment at a wedding or curating strategic social media content, I approach every project with passion and purpose.

As a one-woman team, I wear many hats. I direct, record, and edit all the content I create at weddings and events—sometimes even in real-time. I also handle all administrative tasks, manage my equipment, and communicate with clients. It’s not an easy job, but I embrace the sacrifice because I know this is the foundation for building the media empire that is “Manney Got The Shot.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in New Jersey gives me the best of both worlds—I can explore all the local gems Jersey has to offer while being just a 20-minute train ride away from the endless attractions of New York City.

In Jersey, we could start with lunch at one of my two favorite spots: “Pho Saigon” in Jersey City for Vietnamese cuisine or “Aunty Lizzy’s Oseikrom Restaurant” in Newark for authentic Ghanaian food.

Afterward, we could head to New York City. We could do a few things in New York such as catch a Broadway show—I’m especially interested in seeing “The Lion King” and “Hell’s Kitchen” right now. Alternatively, we could visit the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem or enjoy a live jazz performance at Jazz at Lincoln Center featuring Wynton Marsalis.

To end the day, we could take a train to the Bronx for dinner at “YopCity,” where we can enjoy authentic Ivorian cuisine.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my family and friends. There’s a popular proverb that many people know: “It takes a village to raise a child.” In my case, as a one-woman team building a multimedia empire, I can confidently say—it takes a village to support, encourage, and help me thrive as an entrepreneur.

My village is made up of family—my parents, my two younger sisters, and my brother-in-love—along with dear friends who constantly remind me of their love and support through powerful acts of service.

For example, one friend let me borrow their camera during the early days of building my digital content creation company. Another friend GIFTED me a camera simply because she knew I’d need one—and hers was just sitting unused. I had a friend who took it upon herself to design custom t-shirts that were handmade and featured my business logo, making us easily recognizable at the weddings and events I cover. Some of my friends have absolutely no media experience, but they were still down to hold up lights—just so I could get the perfect shot for my clients. I had friends in different states helping me edit reels remotely while I was on location shooting content. And my family? They showed up big time—sharing my content, spreading the word about my business, and basically giving me free promo!

That’s my village. And I’m endlessly grateful for each and every one of them.
