Meet Gomolemo Masilo

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gomolemo Masilo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gomolemo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew from a very young age I wanted to pursue entrepreneurship, but little did I know what it takes to start one.

I’ve always had a dream of branding my name and making it a label of difference and good impact to society and that’s how starting the Gomo Masilo brand came about.

I had to start it very differently as I started with just a home bakery, created a sports clothing brand, some books on Amazon and finally the actually brand.

I knew there would be tricks and obstacles and there still is as I continue to still grow the brand and make it as big as I planned it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Gomo Masilo brand is designed to bring new innovative solutions to mostly people in the hospitality industry. After working in the industry I saw what some challenges are and aim to bring solutions that are different, useful and still within the market trends.

Persistency and determination got me where I am. I’m still a 9-5 worker and working in hospitality means long hours but that didn’t keep me from still working in my brand.

My biggest lesson includes teaching myself to procrastinate less. Procrastinating results in lack of productivity. That way the goal can be accomplished and achieve in a timely manner if not sooner.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Life means work hard and play hard. I’m a very active person in general, if I’m not at the gym, I’m trying out a new restaurant or doing something more adventurous.

I’ve gotten interest in playing tennis but my 2 new sports I’ve been playing lately is golfing and pickleball. And a little bit of jogging.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My growth as a person in general comes from many mentorships. I’ve become who I am and made it where I am today because of a lot of people and influences, but my biggest shoutout goes to my supporters.

Starting a business is one thing but having customers is what makes it a business. I started from nothing and just at the beginning I had people already see potential and growth in me and the brand.
