We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Kuehn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for Rebel and Lace was born during one of the most challenging times of my life—while I was battling postpartum depression. In the midst of trying to find myself again, I picked up my camera, almost instinctively, and started taking photos. In those quiet moments behind the lens, I remembered how much joy and healing I found in capturing raw, emotional, and beautiful moments. Photography became more than a creative outlet—it became a lifeline, a way to reconnect with myself and with others. That’s when I realized I wanted to help other women and families preserve their own meaningful moments through heartfelt, authentic imagery. Rebel and Lace grew from that place of vulnerability and strength, and now it stands as a celebration of resilience, love, and connection.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a full-time ER nurse, a full-time mom, and a full-time small business photographer — I wear a lot of hats! Photography is my passion project, and while learning how to run a business has definitely been a challenge, it’s been such a rewarding journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite spots in Southern California is Joshua Tree — I’m obsessed with both the quirky little town and the stunning national park. I always make a point to grab food and drinks at The Rib Co, then head into the park for some hiking, exploring, and snapping a few wildlife shots whenever I can!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a big shoutout to a few amazing people who have supported me on this journey! The Photographers of Murrieta Group has been such an incredible source of encouragement, constantly pushing me to step out of my comfort zone and explore new creative directions with my photography.

A special thank you to Annie Morris — a fellow nurse and photographer — whose unwavering support and inspiration have meant the world to me as I’ve taken my first steps into building this business. I’m so grateful for this community!
