Meet Kimmelle Bitonti | Photographer and Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimmelle Bitonti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimmelle, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My photography business goes beyond just capturing images; it plays a role in building a supportive and empowering community. Through my work, I aim to help individuals, especially women, embrace their true selves and celebrate their unique journeys. Each session is designed to create a safe space where clients can express themselves freely, allowing them to connect with their inner beauty and strength.
I often hear from my clients that the experience has been a transformative gift for their souls. By showcasing their authentic selves, I help to boost their self-confidence and inspire them to see the beauty within. This ripple effect extends beyond the camera; it encourages them to embrace their uniqueness and fosters a sense of empowerment that they can carry into their daily lives.
Moreover, my personal journey of self-discovery and healing through photography has profoundly shaped my perspective as both an artist and an individual. Over the past eight years, as I documented my own transformation—losing over 100 pounds—I witnessed firsthand the incredible power of visual storytelling. Each photograph I took became a milestone, reflecting not just physical changes, but the emotional and psychological growth I experienced along the way.
This journey allowed me to confront my insecurities, redefine my self-image, and ultimately embrace a version of myself that I had long overlooked. As I captured my evolving body, I learned to admire and celebrate the strength and resilience within me. It was through this process that I discovered how deeply intertwined our self-worth is with how we perceive ourselves in images.
By sharing my story and the techniques I’ve developed to help clients feel comfortable and empowered in front of the camera, I aim to inspire others to embark on their own journeys of self-love and acceptance. I hope to create a space where everyone can explore the beauty of their personal narratives, fostering a community that uplifts and celebrates diversity in all its forms. In doing so, I aspire to contribute positively to the broader conversation about body positivity and self-acceptance within our community.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is centered around capturing the essence of life’s moments and telling genuine stories through photography. What sets me apart is my focus on creating authentic connections with my subjects. I prioritize making people feel comfortable, which allows their true personalities to shine through in my work.
I’m proud of how far I’ve come in my career. However, the journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced challenges like self-doubt and financial instability, but these experiences have taught me resilience. They’ve pushed me to adapt and grow, reinforcing the importance of perseverance and community support.
I want the world to know that my photography is a means of self-discovery and empowerment. I strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels celebrated. My story reflects transformation and the belief that everyone has a unique narrative worth sharing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Los Angeles, we would spend the week enjoying the beautiful beaches, which would be the highlight of the trip. We’d start at Santa Monica Beach, playing on the swings and splashing in the waves. Venice Beach would follow, where we could soak up the vibrant atmosphere and enjoy beach volleyball. A day trip to Malibu would feature relaxing at Zuma Beach, while Manhattan Beach would offer another chance to unwind by the ocean. In addition to our beach adventures, we’d hike in Griffith Park for stunning views and explore iconic spots like the Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and TCL Chinese Theatre. We’d also enjoy brunch at The Ivy and a farewell dinner at Perch, but the best memories would undoubtedly come from our time spent at the beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my children, who have been my greatest teachers and the true inspiration behind my photography journey. It all began with a simple love for capturing their precious moments—each smile, every milestone, and the everyday magic that unfolded in our lives.
Through the lens, I discovered not only the beauty of their innocence but also the power of storytelling that photography offers. They taught me to see the world through a different perspective, to appreciate the fleeting moments that often go unnoticed, and to find joy in the small things.
Their laughter, curiosity, and unfiltered expressions have shaped my vision as a photographer and have fueled my passion for freezing time in a way that honors the beauty of our shared experiences. My children continue to inspire me every day, reminding me of the importance of connection, love, and the stories we create together. I am forever grateful for their presence in my life and the role they’ve played in shaping my artistry.
