Meet Jasmyn Carter | Stand-Up comedian, actor, content creator, and writer.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmyn Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmyn, is there something you believe many others might not?
“No days off.” I understand what the intent was, but I think it’s some of the worst advice ever. It promotes ignoring self, rest, and just life. Although working on your career every day can provide benefits, it could also cause some problems. We need rest. We need to recharge. Even celebrities go on vacations. If you’re in an art field, how do you expect to continue to create when you don’t live? You can’t pour for an empty cup. Rest is just as important as being relentless.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m creative in every sense of the word. My form of art is comedy, acting, and writing for the most part. My honesty and vulnerability is what sets me apart. I’m not afraid to bare my soul or show my heart. I’m brave on and off stage. I will push the boundaries in the best way. Sometimes I’m fearful, but I do it scared. I’m most proud of how I continue to get better and challenge myself in ways I never thought imaginable. I’m working on a book right now. If you would have told my 17 year old self that I’d be writing a book, I’d call you a liar. I got to where I am by continuously putting myself out there. I got here by being consistent and creating as much as I could and in many new ways possible. I got here by being authentically myself in every phase of life. It was not easy at all. Content, entertainment is always changing, and being able to adapt while dealing with life’s challenges, and growing up online can be exhausting. I overcame the challenges by not being afraid to make mistakes. I don’t want to say fail because you only fail when you stop trying. I never stopped trying. I learned a lot of lessons along the way. Biggest one was keeping my heart in my chest and protecting my privacy. I want people to know that my brand and my story is constantly changing. It can’t be described because it’s always evolving.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was visiting me, I’d first make her take the FlyAway because I am not going to sit in LAX traffic. I’d first take her to Gritz and Wafflez for the best Soul Food and Soul Food brunch in LA. We’d then go to Black on the Block, Everyday People, or Black Market Flea. We’d hit Long Beach and skate on the beach. We’d make our way to Joey in Woodland Hills for Dinner, and then we’d head over to the Laugh Factory for Chocolate Sundaes. All of these spots are my favorite places to go.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this interview to my friends Alexis, Leslie, Amber, and Guchi. Thank you guys for always loving me, choosing me, holding me accountable, and pushing me to be the best me I can be.
