We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori L and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lori, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We adore food, so we decided to document our culinary adventures during the pandemic. It took a bit of time to get started, but we started to see people following us, commenting and sharing, which was a really fulfilling experience!

Personally, my husband’s family once owned a restaurant, but it faced tough times because promoting it was a challenge. Depending on Yelp and Facebook required a lot of maintenance, which busy restaurant workers often don’t have the time or energy for. We think our efforts could help both food lovers and business owners get noticed.

Now our content is hitting home with people and attracting followers, which inspires us to keep creating. We want to make sure our content is genuine and enjoyable is key, and we work hard to keep the quality high.

Sure, it’s a lot of work, but we’re convinced it’s worth every bit of effort.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think to get to where we are it is very important to have a strong interest in what you are doing and continue pursuing it. Achieving success requires significant effort, and it can be tempting to give up. However, enjoying your pursuits is crucial. In the early stages, when there might not be immediate returns, responses, or recognition, passion drives persistence. Many people manage social media as a secondary job or hobby. After a long day, maintaining motivation can be challenging, but passion and determination enable continued effort. In summary, having a genuine interest and belief in your work is essential for sustaining long-term commitment.

We believe that sincerity and compassion are fundamental in our approach. Before founding our Instagram channel, we were followers of other influencers. This often made us question whether content was genuine or simply promotional due to compensation. Now, as influencers ourselves, it is imperative that we share authentic experiences with our followers. Admittedly, our content may not be the most humorous on the internet, possibly due to our style or personality. However, we aim to focus our viewers’ attention on the food rather than on dramatic or controversial actions. Our content reflects our trustworthiness and reliability.

Compassion drives us to perfect what we do because we recognize the challenges restaurant owners face in gaining attention. The competition in Los Angeles is immense, and consumers are discerning. Coming from a restaurant background, we understand the difficulties of establishing a business. Thus, we strive to support businesses and their staff in every possible way, whether through high-quality videos or providing helpful tips.

To further our efforts, we are launching an app called MemberMint, available on the App Store or via this link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/membermint/id6746419846. Through this app, our followers can receive discounts at restaurants we recommend. We believe this initiative will help both the restaurant owners and continue to deliver quality content and benefits to our followers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to Universal Studio. We would be the first one there before the gate opens. Then we’d rush into the park and take several rides before the wave comes in. After the park, I’d like to take her to a nice restaurant over the city walk called Wasabi to end the day.

Day 2 would be a movie and shopping day. Our favorite shopping place is the century city mall. Often they would have pop up events and performances. We’d watch a movie and then dine at Mei Zhou Dong Po, a popular, authentic Chinese restaurants.

Day 3 I’d take my friend to Downtown and go to the top of US Bank to see the view of downtown or go to Perch to enjoy an afternoon tea. Then we’d drive to Ktown to get a nice boba drink and then eat at Moutain. The place is local well known for abalone porridge, but recently they are starting BBQ as well.

Day 4 would of course be around the Beach and drive around HWY1 for the awesome view.

Day 5 – I will let my friend tell me what to do! and I will drive to any places she wants to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d say it would be my father who also loves to document his food journey as well as my family members for the support and encouragement!
